Doesn't bother me, he has proven time after time he can't bat, I wish him well wherever he ends up.

I'd like to see us go for Brendy's latter option! Declare on 250 about half an hour before tea. Have 8 overs with the new ball before tea. Then make them start again after tea. Finish them off by lunchtime then knock 200 off in the last two sessions. What can possibly go wrong? :thumb

Think it depends on run rate and number of wickets lost. Those possible three lost batting points could prove crucial at the end of the season.

It's not just the three (or however many) batting points. It's potentially also the five draw points. Conceding a first innings lead, and potentially having a longer time to bat on day four, would open up the possibility of us losing.

I think it's very much a case of assess things at lunch. And that would possibly include the situation of the Worcs game. If Worcs have been skittled out by then, and Derby are 40-0, then that may play a small part in our thinking.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

That's the percentage approach for sure, and I agree we shouldn't be reckless. But those increasingly few people who pay their money to turn up deserve to see the side give winning a good go. That's how the Nicholas / Warne sides played (not to mention Ingleby-McKenzie) and they ended up better off as a consequence despite having the odd shocking loss. We need to back ourselves!

I think Warne would have approached today by insisting on a run rate of at least 4 an over, and hopefully building a lead as quickly as possible.

We need to score as many as possible, and hope for scoreboard pressure, we bowled them out for 100ish in 30 odd overs earlier this year.

16 - James Tomlinson has taken 16 @LV_Cricket opening batsmen wickets this season, more than anyone else. Examination
