Former Hants all-rounder Peter Sainsbury has died today aged 80.

Sainsbury took 1,316 wickets and made 20,176 runs in 618 first-class games

Tremendous figures. Only 2 players played more FC matches for Hants & a couple of years before he retired he was something like 41 runs away from achieving the 'double' which would have been the first for Hants since 1948 according to Teletext.
He was the only player to feature in both (when will the next one be?) CC winning teams for Hants.

Gemaal Hussain went for 101 in 10 overs. He picked up 3 wickets though so that makes it his best List A performance!

He was at Kent before Yorkshire and I'm told he was doing the same there.

KP says he is going to play some 4 day cricket for Surrey & that he will play for 4 or 5 more years.

Can't see him playing into his late 30's or even playing 4 day cricket next year. Presumably though if he is genuinely keen to play he would be available for a full season without jetting off to global t20 tournaments!

His comments about Surrey in that article are so gushing & over the top that they come over as insincere.
Reading between the lines he seems to be saying that he might play 4 day cricket because it'll help him do well in t20! Hardly a passionate commitment to Surrey.

I know the rumor is he wants to move North, but Hants would be stupid to not try and entice him with a big contract.

Durham are favourites to sign him but it will all come down to money.
