Wonder who will come in at 3 today then.

Any thoughts on the side for Sunday? Do you bring Tommo into it? What if Carbs is not/is fit? Assume Alsop has overtaken Gatting in the pecking order then.

Suspect you'll see it slightly more often in the future though. As I've said at international level before now, these fielding restrictions are ridiculous for the bowling teams. Trying to defend the boundaries with only three men for 15 overs, and four men for the other 35 overs, is just nothing. Not when so many batsmen these days can play 360 degrees.

And there we go, less than a week later we do see it again. Kent have two centurions.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

If Carbs is fit, then Sunday's side picks itself:

Caberry
Vince
Adams
Smith
Ervine
Wheater
Dawson
Coles
Wood
Abbott
Briggs

Coles will float no doubt, potentially coming in higher depending on the situation of the game.

If Carberry isn't fit, I'd expect Gatting to come in. Worryingly, Wheater picked up a hand/finger injury/knock in the penultimate over today. Hopefully he'll be fine, but if not Bates will probably come in (unless Alsop does something special with the bat here). Not sure I'd give us a single chance against Notts if we were without Carberry and Wheater, in addition to Maxwell.

Very important for Vince to get some runs here. With no Maxwell (and maybe more), it's even more important than usual that he scores some runs for us on Sunday.

I'm not asking for a 100. A nice quick 40 will do.

If the rumour is true he won't be short of offers.Must say, though,he'd be better off under Benks than the Judas' at Durham.

Gidman will surely be looking to sign for a division 1 team to start raising his profile.

We are still in a good position to go up.

Solent's understanding of the situation is the same as discussed by some of the Durham guys. Gidman's partner wants to move back up North.

Wheater in at 3, so can't be too badly hurt.

Which is a relief.

Also might suggest that in Maxwell's absence, he'll return to a slot in the top four on Sunday (where he played a handful of games early on in the group stage, when we were without Maxwell and Carberry).

Our middle order just have no idea how to bat in limited overs cricket this season, be it 20 overs or 50 overs.

So, so poor from them again.
