Credit to Hants for fighting back but many seasoned Hants supporters will still expect Essex to get 350.

The papers I browsed in the library seemed to gloss over Hants' performance yesterday & just talked up Wheater's excellent innings.
So not sure whether Jimmy made a dreadful decision or if our batting is totally different from the way we gained batting points at will in the early part of the season.

230-6 is a lot better than 187-2!

Can't see it happening to be honest. Earlier in the season perhaps?

However, Rimmington strikes & Essex are only 8 ahead with 3 wickets left - just wish I could believe that Hants wil polish off the last 3 in half an hour!

Following his catch in our innings. Thank goodness he isn't fulfilling his supposed role in the side as a bowler yet. Hope that isn't the cue for him to get a hat full of wickets in our second innings.

This partnership may yet prove crucial. And someone tell Carberry to come out in one day mode for his second effort. I don't think I could cope with another 30+ ball nought.

Not a bad afternoons work considering they were 187/2, though I'm wondering about what state the pitch is in. Game has advanced quite quickly, can't rule out any result at the mo although you would still favour the draw.
