Just checking out our t20 batting (seeing as though we have no Essex match to focus on).
Glamorgan - batted second. Lost. (Won the toss)
Sussex - batted first. Won. (Won the toss)
Middlesex - batted first. Won. (Lost the toss)
Essex - batted second. Won. (Lost the toss)
Kent - batted first. Won. (Won the toss)
Somerset - batted second. Lost. (Won the toss)
Gloucs - batted first. Won. (Won the toss)
Glamorgan - batted first. Won. (Lost the toss)
Surrey - batted first. Lost (Lost the toss)
Kent - batted first. Won. (Lost the toss)
Somerset - batted second. Lost. (Lost the toss)
Middlesex - batted second. Lost. (Won the toss)
Batted first seven times. Won six of them. Only defeat was away to Surrey, where our limited overs records is awful anyway.
Batted second five times. Lost four of them. Only win was at home to Essex, who are very much a bat second team.
So we can set a score, and we can certainly defend a score. But Christ are we bad at chasing a score. So our own fault to some extent for choosing to field first against Glamorgan, Somerset and Middlesex.
