Runrate isn't great, 2.8, needs to be 3.6 for max points.

Not going to criticise Smith, but needs to up his SR from 33, closer to 50 ideally.

Yes with wickets in hand they can afford to be a little more attacking. Although an hour or two from Vince and Wheater should get us back on course for at least 4 if not 5 batting points.

We dropped a bowling point, can't afford a batting one too, NEED 400.

Vince starts slowly occasionally but then suddenly changes gear.

What a strange innings by Vince, I can only guess the spinners are getting a bit out the pitch. Mind you I hate lbws for spinners without drs. I remember a day when they NEVER got lbws.

Off for bad light, extremely slow progress in the last 20 overs, 5 batting points looking out the question, 4 looking debatable.

We have had 96 overs today though. Looks like we are just happy to survive.

So long as we're past the follow on mark (and hence the 300 mark), don't be surprised if we declared 8 wickets down within the 110 overs.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Let's hope we have a good score on the board before we're 5 down.

Suspect the tactic was to avoid getting skittled today and follow on this evening / early morning. With enough wickets in hand we can go for it in the morning and if we get rolled over then we won't have long to hang on now even if we do have to follow on. Seems the Oval pitches are taking a bit of spin later on in games now - think Ansari got 5 in the second innings last week.

Dig in/ go for batting points/ get skittled out & follow-on/ high scoring draw? Let's hope for a good day's weather although Wimbledon which is not far away is expecting occasional showers such as they had yesterday.
