Are we declining ? Or everyone else catching up ??

We never usedto have this many tight finishes, and whats up with Maxwells bowling ?

We've always had tight finishes.

I don't think Maxwell bowled much in the IPL. I wonder if he himself has neglected to work on it in recent months. But that said, it surely can't be worse than Ervine's. Which brings me onto my main point...

Had we lost today - and without Jimmy's catch, I'm sure we would have done - then I would not have blamed the bowlers one bit. We should have smashed 170. Minimum 15 runs short, but anything up to 40 runs short. That is back to back games now the opposition have shown us what you should be doing in the last five or six overs. We've only got away with it both times because the bowlers had already put the opposition is such bad positions each time, positions where they were almost dead and buried from.

Ervine's batting is starting to seriously hack me off. Wheater gets away with it purely because we need a WK (and there's no way that Bates has the ability to come in and smash 30 off 17 balls). Shah back on Friday night please.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

There is certainly a higher quality all round - probably due to quality of overseas signings. (Not much sign of KP though!)

I hope we learn from some of the recent failings - Ervine's form is distinctly dodgy in T20 - he saved himself with that wicket off his last delivery.

Adams was MoM.

Radio Solent report that the 9 sixes (all by Jimmy & Carbs) has only once been bettered inT20 history - presumably on this ground as Napier almost doubled the total by himself once.

On a much more positive note though, very well played from Carberry, Adams, Coles and Abbott. Coles continues to prove me wrong with his bowling in this format.
Briggs and Wood played a part too.

Be interesting to know what our win prrcentage is when we're on the telly. Pretty high I would have thought, our players appear to enjoy the limelight.

Did Ervine bowl from the same end that David Miller took him apart from in the 2012 final ??

As far as Slugs form goes, I think he gets caught in 2 minds between attack and being responsible and tries too hard to play catch up, I'd rather see him get caught at long off from his 2nd ball

Don't think so - they all went over the scoreboard into the river! Nasty few moments......

47-4 with Maxwell gone for 4. Has he got a decent score yet this season in the T20 I read somewhere that his IPL form tailed off after an impressve start.
Time for the other Hants batsmen to show their worth. A score of 120 seems dangerously possible atm.

Maxwell had an extraordinary run at the start of the IPL in the UAE but then made virtually no impression when the tournament moved to India. That was my impression, haven't checked the stats so it might not have been as clear cut.

Must be a poor pitch, hopefully someone ( Smith ) can find a way to get us to 120 and atleast have a run a ball to bowl at.

Thanks for that.
Hants 57-6. When a team plays poorly (& we've benn dicing with disaster in recent games - since Maxwell came?) they often really do come a cropper.
Can we get Howell & Rouse back? :facepalm
