Blimey, that was a bit close for comfort. Nearly struck by the Commentators Curse - went Solent handed over to Kevan James with 5 overs to go to "deliver the last rites to Gloucestershire" I knew we were in trouble!

Anyway, the most important thing is that we won. Having a 5-2 win record at the half way stage is an excellent position to be in.

Three wins from our second set of seven games gives us a decent chance (we've qualified, and gone onto win the thing, with 8 wins from 16 before, let alone 8 wins from 14). Might just need to chuck a no-result in there too, possibly.

Four wins from our second set of seven games almost certainly sees us qualify.

Five wins from our second set of seven games would have to result in a miracle to see us not qualify, especially given that Surrey in 3rd and Kent in 5th (top four qualify remember) still have to play each other twice, and hence points will be dropped by one or both.

To finish in the top two though - and that has to be our target - we are probably looking at five, if not six, wins from our last seven. What we do in our next two games which are against the two sides directly on tails for a top two spot - Glamorgan and Surrey - we have a massive say in that.

I see Surrey have signed Dilshan - due to play against us on Friday.

Yes. He replaces Amla (who in turn replaced Smith) as their main overseas player once their current four day match is over.

Think I'd take Maxwell and Abbott over Dilshan and Robin Petersen personally.

Gloucester who are having the most ridiculous WK problems at the moment, have signed Adam Rouse on a 1 month trial.

Perhaps Glos are trying to recreate Hants! They already have Howell & over the years they've signed a few other players I seem to recall - a batsman called Scott about 20 years ago?

Should be a good match! Whose turn is it to make a miraculous attempt for victory when the commentators have written them off only to fail heroically when it seems almost easier to win? :dunno

Hopefully the middle order can click this time (if indeed they are even required - one of these days our top four will destroy a team on their own).

Five really, really good overs from Glamorgan. So why did they then bring Salter on for the 6th, bowling pretty much in the slot for Carberry.

Yet again we're 90-odd for hardly any wickets down after 10 overs, and yet will fall well short of 200 (it would appear).
