Promotion first, first place second!

It must be a Southampton/Bournemouth thing to settle for 2nd then.

:hide :hide :hide

Didn't do Doncaster much good going up as Champions anyway!

Second is only ever really annoying when you're in the top division.

Isn't the division one trophy the one that was given when that was the top division prior to the EPL? That must be a nice one to have. It's got Liverpool in the eighties and Arsenal in the thirties on it, etc.

I'm not sure if Pompey ever finished 2nd in the top flight. I know Southampton did once, in the 80's, which was some achievement on the gates they got at the Dell.

Finishing 2nd in this division means finishing 10th overall :/

That can't be true, surely?

It's the same one. Leeds were the last club to win it as champions of England, then when the PL started it became the trophy for the second tier ever since.

So Ortsmouth (Just for you Owelly) have actually won it 3 times. I forgot about that!

High time James Vince gets a go in the ODI side! Extraordinary innings, I hear by all accounts and its not just 1 innings. Cook continuing to play ODIs ahead of this lad and Hales (who has also found form in the longer format now) is an absolute joke.

They'd probably just do the same thing they did with Carberry though, and ditch him after 4 or 5 games if it doesn't go great ( I THINK Carberry actually has a better List A record over the last few seasons )

I know that Glenn Maxwell is friends with Vince, so im hopeful that he can find him some cricket out in Aus this winter, or maybe Kyle Abbott/Benks could find someone to take him in SA, a winter in foreign conditions could be the icing on the cake for him.

Wouldn't be easy for him to play State cricket in Aussie but Benks fixed both Harmi and Onions up in Saffers. There's no way Vince will replace Cook in ODI' s-it's Morgan's place he should be targeting.

I don't think Carberry is as gifted. This guy has just looked a natural batsman whenever I've seen him play in the telecasted limited overs matches.
