@CWatersYPSport: Andrew Gale penalised 6 points by ECB for showing dissent after being given out in Roses match - even though umpire changed decision.

should never show dissent, no matter what the circumstances

worse..... he's the captain. What message does that send out?

The punishment is fair.

Even though the umpire changed his decision, the original one should never be questioned.

What does a 6 point penalty mean? is it similar to points on a driving license?. In that case what is max points allowed and the action that's taken if exceeded?
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

If he gets any more points in the next 2 years, he gets a ban..you either get 3 points or 6 points for an offence I think, so if he gets another 6 points it'll be a longer ban, I can't find any specific rule on how long. But yes its similar to a driving license.

Yorkshire CCC unveil £50 Million Stadium Redevelopment plan in order to save Test Status

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/cr ... -1-6655186

The cynic in me thinks this is as much as a vanity project as HS2 because the capacity is only getting extended by 3000. Whilst the new North/South stand is required and the North-East corner has room for a two tiers, I don't see much point of building a new pavilion when the current two barely get used. Also the Western Terrace would look disfigured with a roof on.

This is what boils my blood about the ECB. Some Test grounds are practically bankrupting themselves so that they can continue to impress the ECB and keep staging international games. As long as there are plenty of seats (and these can be hired in temporarily) and there are good food, drink, and car parking facilities they should all be acceptable. You can only do so much with a cricket ground. Bear in mind these grounds are practically empty for 11.75 months a year.

If Yorkshire are going to spend that amount of money, they should go the whole hog and increase the stadium capacity to 30,000 ready for the 2019 World Cup. A 20,300 ground would only make Headingley no higher than 5th in terms of test venue.

Permanent floodlights is what Yorkshire need as a County, the very few Day/Night games held at Headingley have been well attended. 5.30pm starts for Twenty20 is too early for folk to attend on time without taking time off work, more so when Yorkshire is a very large county. A 6.30pm-7pm start would see a noticeable increase in crowds.

Its certainly time something changed over the bidding process..maybe Counties need to come together and stop bidding, having Lords and Oval dominate everything is pathetic.

Why the hell did Lords get a SL ODI when they already have a test..The Oval got a T20 and an ODI, Headingley got a Test and an ODI.

I haven't even looked into the Indian fixtures, but I bet all 3 feature again.

I reckon it's only a matter of time before Wembley Stadium hosts international cricket matches.

The current ECB set up are only interested in money. Forget the fans.
