Also worth remembering Durham were awarded an India ODI later in the summer but they handed that back.

Heaven knows how much tickets for that would have cost had they staged it instead of SL.

You could probably get away with selling India tickets for more though, because its more of a glamorous fixture and with the amount of Indians living in England ( considerably more than Sri Lankans presumably ) that would attend it would fill out.

Yep, India a very popular team. Not sure if we had the option of keeping India & handing back the SL game but if we did it was an odd decison not to do it.

Maybe, its just as likely that for the same reason the SL ODI was cheaper to purchase and made more sense.

Johnathan Trott fielded all 20 overs in a warm up game for Warks v Shropshire yesterday.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

@surreycricket: Away from the ODI, some bad news regarding @GraemeSmith49. He has fractured his right knee and will be returning home (1/2)
@surreycricket: However, we're happy to say that @amlahash is arriving tomorrow and will be available this weekend when @gwilson14 will lead the side (2/2)

Cricket at the Olympic Stadium is becoming a distinct possibility, with Essex agreeing a deal in principle whilst Middlesex and Kent have displayed an interest in playing there too.

If it's proved to be a success, no reason why Twenty20 Finals Day could be held there.

That's all cricket needs is another London stadium taking plum cricket away from the counties.

Would that not have a negative impact on the ECB though, financially? The opposite to how it is now.

Right now, they presumably get a fair bit of money from a county each year for allowing that county to host Finals Day. But hosting it at the Olympic Stadium would surely require the ECB to have to do the paying?

Yes in that instance it would be the ECB making the money off the public directly, through ticket sales, food and drink etc, rather than the host county. But I'm still not sure that it would make the ECB better off than under the current process.

Thats a good point Brendy, BUT in this case, It would be Essex ( or another county ) renting the Olympic Stadium and then selling tickets, rather than the ECB renting it directly, so i don't think it will affect them.

Would rather have T20 Finals Day in London than chuffing Cardiff.

I did not enjoy getting up at 4.30am Saturday, the long drive and not getting home until 3.30am Sunday. At least with a final in London there is an increased option of public transport.
