Anderson has looked tired for a while. Not sure now he can make it through long series and maintain quality.

Lumb has been dropped for Bell in the T20, both surprising. And Bresnan is back, which is also a bit strange. No Plunkett! Carberry in the T20 squad.

Did you really expect Plunkett in a limited overs squad ?? :laugh

Am I right in thinking that Carbs has been selected for limited overs squads based on his form in CC thus far whereas when he was a Test player he was not deemed good enough?

Going on wickets taken, Broad is England's best seamer already over the past couple of years. There must be a concern over frequent injuries though.

SR is much better than Anderson's over a long period, since Jan 2012...

There are other criteria and, of course, there is the luck factor.

No surprise to see Bresnan in the squad, by the way.

I posted this in another thread.

I'd have him in my test side, wouldn't be in my ODI XI.

Then again neither would half of the ODI side.

A bit of a disconnect with the selectors there then, SP.

Good power play and death bowler and a good strike rate with the bat. Ideal player, I'd have thought.

I saw that Powelly but I suppose that my point is that it shows inconsistent selection regardless of a change of coach. Someone not deemed good enough for the short stuff suddenly becomes good enough despite not having played any of the short stuff since being deemed not good enough. I know the panel has changed but you would expect them to go for a new generation not someone who had seemingly been cast off previously. To me it suggests a dig at those in charge before. I wonder if Giles has burned every bridge going.

Morgan scores his first CC century for 5 years and becomes a contender for a test place. It's Deja vu all over again as in 2011 his century for the Lions got him into the test team v India. That return to test cricket ended in tears v Pakistan in 2012. Surely Moores is not going to go down the same path all over again, though for some reason not obvious to me Morgan is a favourite of several Pundits.

Why drop JD and keep Tim. Their performances with the ball were the same over the winter in T20.

Even Surrey have lost faith in Jade after a poor start to the season. Pity really as I think with the right coaching he could be something special.
