Or Yorkshire wanting to get a big enough total to give themselves every chance of beating Warwickshire by an innings. Forecast looks good for Days 3 & 4 and the wicket at Headingley is a result one, unlike the Riverside.

If cricket was played based on weather forecasts, then this match would not have started.

Sidebottom doesn't take the new ball for Yorks

Sidebottom's being rested. The others are doing well, though, particularly Plunkett again. Warwickshire 37-3.

Bairstow getting some time behind the stumps in this match. Probably a request from Moores.

Sidebottom getting rested suggests he'll play in the Twenty20 opener v Northants, thus Yorkshire taking the competition seriously for once.

Bairstow is Yorkshire's 1st choice keeper, Hodd had to make way for Ballance.

The extra 44 runs were unlikely to be required and so it proved. Surely it's common knowledge that Warks batting is fragile and getting into them as soon as possible was the way to go.

Keith Barker and Jeetan Patel are no mugs with the bat, who have thwarted Yorkshire with their late innings cameos in recent years.

Barker hasn't made a telling score for quite a while and Patel is most often a slogger. Last weeks careful effort from him was way out of character.

This years batting averages:

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/county-ch ... tournament

Take out Bell and two innings from Porterfield, two innings from Patel and one from Ambrose and Chopra the rest has been rubbish. Our bowlers and the poor batting of the opposition has given us a false position at the top of the table.

Bell must be regretting asking Yorks to bat. He,s still there but even a ton might not be anywhere near enough to avoid following on.

It was going very well for Warwickshire. They took the top 6 wickets cheaply. They couldn't bowl out the tail - three bowlers scored fifties.

Warks could do the same to Yorks. It's the curse of the saggy balls. Plenty for Yorks still to do. Great day for them though.
