Nice to see Oliver Hannon-Dalby amongst the wickets for Warwickshire

Is Bell in the slips? 4 catches in this match already - if he is I presume for the first Test Cook will be at first slip and Bell second - captain and vice-captain??? Was that how it was at Sydney?

Bell fielded in the slips during both Ashes. Of course he's an outstanding short leg and more than useful in the ring. I would have thought you'd want taller fielders at third slip (I don't think he fielded second), where you are going to get the slashes. But I suppose the most important thing is you take the regulation ones. Root fielded there too, but didn't seem too convincing.

Steven Finn striking late on, removing the key wickets of Kane Williamson (37) and Joe Root (63).

Good day for Yorkshire at the end of Day 2, who end 213/4 in their 2nd innings and a lead of 268 runs.

Exciting day at Trent Bridge tomorrow by the looks of it, I'd make Notts slight favorites, unless they lose another wicket tonight.

@brainhaldorf: A pitch panel will consider this Trent Bridge track at end of the match after ECB pitch inspector Tony Pigott visited this afternoon.

Doesn't sound good. Usually they visit and immediately say no action will be taken. Looks like there may be an issue with this one.

That's what I was thinking. If there's another clatter of wickets in the morning it could be a double whammy for Notts-defeat & also docked points. Though batting doesn't seem to have been too difficult late today.

I think it's the first game that the home side has denied use of the heavy roller, maybe a built in excuse there.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

The heavy roller rule change is an unnecessary complication imo.
