Thats five seamers though. I like bowling options, but I think I'd rather have a spinner than five seamers. Unless Stokes is just going to bat.

I know

I can only think of one good reason to have a specialist spinner in the side in the early summer, with masses of overheads, when you can just prepare a load of green tops, and that's to try and work out which specialist spinner will play against India..... but I think they think they know the answer to that already

then you could include your specialist spinner, because the captain will know what the *modded* to do with him

Cook
Robson
Ali
Bell
Morgan
Stokes
Prior/Buttler
Borthwick/Woakes
Broad
Anderson
Onions/Panesar

I'd like to see something like that, with Ali acting as a second spinner. That assumes Onions & Borthwick, or Panesar & Woakes, though the latter looks unlikely.

My two-penneth on the team to start the summer. With only 5 spots nailed down and the first test not being played until mid June, a lot will/should depend on early county form.

Cook
Root
Moeen Ali
Bell
Taylor
Stokes
Buttler
Woakes
Broad
Anderson
Spinner

Could be close or way off :dunno

My team right now:

Cook
Carberry
Root
Bell
Taylor
Moeen
Stokes
Prior
Woakes
Broad
Anderson

Might change tomorrow.

I'd pick Onions for Woakes but other than that, assuming all have a reasonably good start to the season, that looks OK.

Apart from Moeen, Woakes and Prior.

Its hard to believe indeed, but then again, Anderson was forced to play in 2006/07 Ashes series when he looked less than half fit.

Yes he had a knee problem during those last 2 Tests and the 4 following in SA. I wish teams would be open about their injuries, not only England but county teams as well.

Batting line up for the summer (wild guess Moores as coach)

Cook (c)
Robson
Trott (he's playing for Warks at the start of the season)
Bell (vc)
Root
Stokes
Buttler

At present we have Cook, Bell, Stokes, Anderson, Broad and probably Bresnan nailed on. I think we'll see Trott back especially with Giles' increased involvement in the England set up.

I think calls for Robson and Ali are definitely overstated at present, and I have a horrible feeling Buttler will take the gloves off Bairstow.

I'd be shocked if England decided to ignore the spinner issue.

I'd already stated I wouldn't pick Woakes. If Prior shows no sign of regaining form then we'll have to look elsewhere although none of the options exactly inspire me. Moeen may be a bit of a punt but I would like to see him tried.
