There are only two ways to deal with that; stop people engaging in criminal activity or legalise the activity to get profits from it going out of the hands of criminals.

If you think you can stop people betting then best of luck with that.

Yes, majority of Indians and police too know who handles betting and fixing in India.

The government will not make betting legal here because majority of Indians don't want it. Betting will continue to happen illegally in India though as we are seeing recently.

It seems that BCCI president Srinivasan - the one who's son in law has been arrested and who's franchise could potentially be terminated - is not going to be forced to resign.

Top BCCI officials resign; Ankeet Chavan released from Tihar

Two top BCCI officials, secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke, on Friday quit from their respective posts in a bid to put pressure on beleaguered cricket board president N Srinivasan in the wake of the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

Suspended cricketer Ankeet Chavan, who was arrested on allegations of spot-fixing, was on Friday released from Tihar Jail, a day after a court granted him bail to solemnise his marriage.

Chavan had sought bail on the ground that his marriage is fixed for June 2 and if the wedding does not take place it will harm his reputation and that of his fiancee.

He was granted bail till June 6.
