There are only two ways to deal with that; stop people engaging in criminal activity or legalise the activity to get profits from it going out of the hands of criminals.

If you think you can stop people betting then best of luck with that.

Yes, majority of Indians and police too know who handles betting and fixing in India.

The government will not make betting legal here because majority of Indians don't want it. Betting will continue to happen illegally in India though as we are seeing recently.
Government cannot stop some from betting , no way. But they will always consider what majority of Indians want and why.

Well if the majority of people are happy allowing all this money to go into the hands of domestic terrorism then who am I to argue?

Seems utterly daft though.

It will go even if it is made legal. In fact more will go. There are many business which his gang is doing in India legally. More money is going to him. and as i said, that is not the only reason Indians are opposing legalized betting. There are several more. And it is due to all those reasons why government will not consider making it legal here, let alone making it legal.

How will more money go to them?

It seems that BCCI president Srinivasan - the one who's son in law has been arrested and who's franchise could potentially be terminated - is not going to be forced to resign.

DDB seems to accurately predicted what is going to happen earlier.

How has Modi's replacement not been hauled out over all this?

New law on spot-fixing by August: Kapil Sibal

Amidst the uproar over IPL spot-fixing, the government on Sunday asserted that it would make efforts to put in place by July or August the new standalone law to deal with such "unfair practices" but ruled out promulgation of an ordinance on it.

The footage and other evidences broadcasted in India shows how silly the bookies and Sreesanth were. He used his own SIM card to make/receive calls to/from bookies, met bookies along with call girls in areas under surveillance. That too 3:15 A.M.

I am wondering who is the most smart fixer ever. Azhar i guess .

Pawar is back playing a game which he is best at. Srini will be lucky to survive now if Pawar makes up his mind to remove Srini. Won't be surprised if it happens. It all depends which side Pawar opts to support.

I fear this latest revelation is just the tip on the iceberg. These Bookies are rather similar to drug dealers, only their underlings are uncovered whilst they just carry on.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Absolutely, Hope.

Which is why learning from events such as this and putting in meaningful preventative measures rather than reactive measures is so important.

In many ways these sort of high profile busts are quite dangerous as they cause people's eyes to slip off the problem.

Top BCCI officials resign; Ankeet Chavan released from Tihar

Reference:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/spor ... 371014.cms?

Two top BCCI officials, secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke, on Friday quit from their respective posts in a bid to put pressure on beleaguered cricket board president N Srinivasan in the wake of the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

Suspended cricketer Ankeet Chavan, who was arrested on allegations of spot-fixing, was on Friday released from Tihar Jail, a day after a court granted him bail to solemnise his marriage.

Chavan had sought bail on the ground that his marriage is fixed for June 2 and if the wedding does not take place it will harm his reputation and that of his fiancee.

He was granted bail till June 6.

The BCCI seem to busy politicking to start actually dealing with the problem they have found themselves with.
