How can a series from 2009 / 2010 be in the last two years?
It's not stat's doing tricks, you're including series which are not in the last two years.
Including every series from the last 2 years he averages 32.
It's getting in circles. You think he should be dropped, fair enough. I think he shouldn't be dropped.
It's not going in circles at all Adi, your argument was based on what has been shown to be non-existant performance.
I'd be interested to know why exactly Tendulkar should not be on the chopping block.
There are many reasons why he is in team. He has played in six series since 2011 and he has performed below average in 4 and okay in 2. Players like Sachin are not dropped on basis of 4 such series, when the other two series are showing there are runs on offer . Then we haven't got replacement of Saurav, Rahul and VVS. We have to replace Sehwag who averaged 50 for most part of his career as well. Even Gauti is gone now. Okay lets drop Sachin too. There is only hope that new comers will replace all of these seniors and play for India for over 10 years or more. Chet has got one operation already on knee. His average of 91 is bound to drop and i will say well played if he keeps it at 50 for even 5 years, forget 23 years. Virat , Murali Vijay , Raina, Ajinkya, Yuvi haven't even seen one year of prime form. But there is lot of surety. Everyone thinks Sachin can be gotten rid off. Well......only time will tell. But often one doesn't realizes the value of what one possesses until he loses it. It has been the case with Saurav, Rahul, VVS, Dravid, Sehwag and soon Sachins retirement will teach the same lesson. Good luck but the fact remains that we havent yet found Sauravs replacement since many years. Give me one name who has replaced Saurav who retired 5 years back. , The board knows it, the selectors know his value and even Dhoni knows. That is why he is in the team and we get to experiment to find a replacement of Saurav Ganguly. It's a big hole, see what Aussies have gone into with retirement of Hayden, Ponting, Hussey etc.
Add to it the various dynamics of Indian cricket, i would say there are tougher time for Indian cricket in test matches. There are loads of reason and i haven't touched management dynamics yet in Indian cricket . God bless Indian cricket after FAB 4 .
Whether i put a cricketers hat or a selectors hat on head, i think we should persist with Sachin.
