What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

Watch out for his son Arjun Tendulkar. He plays for Dhirubhai Ambani international high school. He has had a successful all round season in Harris shield and also made the Under 14 squad of Mumbai. Bats left handed and leftie medium pacer. Sachin will be coaching him now that he has retired from ODI's. It's still not clear whether Sachin will start his own cricket academy in Mumbai.

The God. One of the millions of Sachin worshipers, touched his feet after knocking a ton at Wankhede against Baroda in the ongoing Ranji quarters.

Posted it on random cricket thread (Domestic) few days back. I am well aware in details what has happened in this years Mumbai Under 14 selection. How few players got selected as probables, why few missed in spite of scoring doubles and triples, why few made in spite of scoring lesser runs than those not selected. Few cricketers known to me are involved in this Under 14 squad and the administrative staff of MCA. I know various reasons why few selections have happened as told to me. I would prefer to be very diplomatic rather than reveal in details what has happened because in this case it's like leaking a Private message received from my contacts and they would not like if i disclose it over internet or out of our club circle. However, i will mention a few aspects here and there in general. Yes, there are selection issues and relevant people know it. There is one more major issue which the media guys are not aware of and is not being published in press.

All i can say is that i am watching few Under 14 boys. They are quality. They practice in the morning with us, then in the evening under personal coaches from those who are my clubmates. Coaches have given hope on a couple of players because they did not show enough grasping of practical knowledge. Others IMO deserve to be in the squad. They have impressed with their performances in the senior club games. Even in the nets they will not give you their wickets. They are fighters and we are glad there is a new generation of players who will someday take over when we retire from club cricket. It feels very nice to see that the legacy will be continued as they are making Under 14 squads and after few years few more known cricketers will make Ranji squads

Arjun had some impressive performances with bat and ball. He also practiced recently against the bowling machine in Mumbai. He is getting everything right and they are setting up his career nicely since the school days, as was planned with Sachin Tendulkar's early career albeit not for the bowling machine practice. His selection was but obvious to me at start of this season.

Sachin Tendulkar still 'god' among teammates, fans: Dawes
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/spor ... 443692.cms

India's fast bowling coach Joe Dawes has described cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as still having a god-like status among his teammates and cricket fans.

The former Australian cricketer, who has been a constant companion to Tendulkar for the past nine months, said that Tendulkar's teammates copied his every little gesture, even carrying their bats with them on the team bus like the Little Master.

Can't really see how that is anything to commended.

One of my clubmate used to adjust his abdo guard and move the legs while doing it similarly to what Sachin did. That was the height of imitation. Sir Jadeja has also opted for curly hair style like Sachin had in childhood. 8-)

Yep, i have been saying this for a while.

A 4-0 home win against australia would be a good time to finish though, no matter how many tests he has played :clap

He won't retire. He will play around 1-2 matches per year until he is 50 and keep the Sachin Conglomerate rolling in the dough.

Arjuna Award, Wisden Cricketer of the Year, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Padma Shri – India's fourth highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan – India's second highest civilian award, 2010: ICC Cricketer of the year , 2010: LG People's Choice Award, ICC World Test XI: 2009, 2010, 2011, ICC World ODI XI: 2004, 2007, 2010,Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World 1997, 2010, 2012

As if these awards were not enough. Donald, one of crickets best pace bowlers of his time has huge praise for Sachin. It cannot be better when bowlers like Wasim, McGrath, Warne, Donald, Murali etc rate Sachin as one of the best batter.

For cricket Sachin is Maradona and Pele put together: Donald

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/spor ... 890373.cms

South African pace legend Allan Donald feels cricket would be a poorer sport once Sachin Tendulkar retires from the scene as the Indian veteran is "Maradona and Pele put together" for the game.

I can't see India winning in South Africa, you'd think Tendulkar would have paid some attention to the rather acrimonious way Dravid and VVS were thrown out of the team on the back of an overseas thumping - something neither of them deserved.
