I wasnt saying otherwise, I was saying that I prefer to remember cricketers at thier peak, like Dravid, who was the stand out Indian player during the England series last year.

Waugh was the same in is final series, I would hate to remember seeing a player of the greatness of SRT scratching around for runs, I personally think you are right and he will know when its time to go, at some point he'll think why bother anymore, if you read most ex-cricketers post career Bios they all say roughtly the same thing about making the decision.

The worst thing he can do in my opinion is deny these feelings, and keep doing it because the team/India needs him.

As a fan one may certainly want him to retire when one is in good form. But, it is a career for him, so he will look to give his 100% until he thinks he is fit enough. However, he will reach saturation point some day and announce retirement. Last test Mumbai

Last ODI in the 2015 WC. Last Test in the Test series immediately preceding that WC.

Is Sachin still one of the best six batsmen in India ? Silly question , of course he is.

Does Sachin still want to play for India in Test matches? Presumably yes , at the moment.

So not really anything to debate is there? One day he'll decide he's had enough ( and I am reasonably sure it will be before any real doubt as to his right to selection on merit arises) and that will be it.

Personally , I hope he has another year or so to entertain us all . We'll miss him when he's gone.

Of course Sachin should keep playing, he's easily good enough to stay in the team and he seems to have the hunger to carry on representing his country so i don't see why he would think of retiring at the moment.

Indeed. Sadly there are a few desperate for him to retire and think that he only plays for records.

Sachin has not ruled out the 2015 WC so to suggest that he wont even play another series is beyond ludicrous. Haters will hate though, I guess
