This impression probably has much to do with many peoples’ first view of Bresnan in the ODIs against Sri Lanka a few years ago, in which all our bowlers got carted by a superb Sri Lankan batting line-up.
Most people who have seen Bresnan since he started his career at Yorkshire, and some of his junior career before that, would say that he is now fulfilling the potential he has always had. Quite frankly, comparisons with Austin are laughable.

For Yorkshire, his forté has always been in the longer form of the game, rather than in one day matches, yet he was selected for ODIs and not tests. The selectors got it the wrong way round and now Borthwick is probably ahead of him in the pecking order.
Still, England’s loss will hopefully be Yorkshire’s gain, just like it was when Vaughan was playing for England.

I could not agree with you more on Rashid...very badly treated and I don't understand the mantra that he is too young. 2 years ago he should have being picked when Monty was on the wane. He had 150+ FC wickets at a very respectable average and he can bat. If he was on this tour and had being given the previous experience he could have balanced our team.
