I'd agree.
Tendulkar's form over the last two years has propelled him above all in the modern era.
Lara and V Richards are the only two that come close, IMO.

Kallis is a totally different type of batsman to Tendulkar.He is in the Dravid mould.Tendulkar is more in the Lara/Ponting i.e. attacking mould.
To me Tendulkar would be the first name on the teamsheet in whatever XI I pick be it All Time Test and ODI teams,Current Test and ODI XIs,Technically Correct players' team,Thrill a minute team,etc.The guy is pure genius.He makes batting look ridiculously easy.He scores runs for fun.A lot of people say that he is on par with Lara.I beg to differ.His record is better than Lara in each and every aspect of batting.He is a notch above Lara and other modern greats IMO.

I would rate the batsmen whom I have watched in the follwing order

Tendulkar
Lara
Kallis
Ponting and Dravid(on a par)

In terms of style Lara probably just edges SRT, mind you I've always liked watching the west indian batsmen they seem to have an otherworldy grace when batting, be it the Likes of Viv Richards explosive batting or Lara's more subtle style.

However I still respect SRT as being one of the few playing greats.

I agree.In terms of style,Lara probably only just edges it but I think in terms of pedigree Tendulkar is better.He is more consistent than Lara was.

I do agree that Tendulkar has a better record than Lara but Lara is the one Batsman that I would stay up to 2or 3 in the morning to watch on the TV in a test not invlving England.

When SRT was at his best his batting was great to watch. Anyone who could play back-foot drives on a trampoline WACA pitch at the age of 19 against McDermott is great to watch. The same can be said about his knocks at Capetown or few of his knocks against Aus in 98. If his batting at WACA and CT was cavalier then his batting at Edgbaston in 96 in swinging conditions was almost like a coaching manual to youngsters. It is his ability to change the way he plays according to conditions which makes him exciting to watch. With age he has cut down on a few shots like the hook, to an extent the pull as well as the back-foot drive but that has helped him to play for longer.

Presumably Berry gets paid by the column-inch, and so had to write something. I was quite shocked when I saw the title: "Sachin Tendulkar's limitations have been exposed on this troubled tour." Really? Tendulkar's performances would be about the last thing on my mind if I were managing India.

I don't take him seriously at all. Especially the Sachin's limitations and Dravid being better than Sachin .

It is a great formula for journalists to mention Sachins's name in their articles and say something negative about him to get popular.
