Quiet hour after lunch at Wantage Road. The Middlesex bowlers have bowled very tightly.

Durham are having an absolute mare in Birmingham. Warwickshire close to 300/0 after 50 overs. Baz will be loving that

Great score on the board for you guys. Gay has 140 plus. Thought he looked a walking wicket last week. Had a go at literally everything

490-1

astonishingly we chose to bowl...... we never do that. We batted first every chance we got last year and we had the example of last weeks debacle at Lords to see what can be achieved on day one with a kookaburra...... I presume this is the second kookaburra round...... and there's a very short boundary according to Dobell ahead of the game

it just seems like a nonsensical decision from every angle... what were we thinking?

imagine my reaction if I find later that we've dropped catches

At Hove last week, you'd have expected with two seamers in early April under heavy cloud cover boasting test averages of lower 20s, that the ball would move around, but in pretty much seamer paradise conditions two very good test players struggled to get the ball to do anything. This week the sun is out, and we are seeing scores of 600/3 and 570/6 around. The ball is doing absolutely nothing at Grace Road in the game I am watching, hasn't swung, hasnt seamer.... nada.

Was it Strauss' intention to create the most boring round of CC cricket ever? Leicestershire are bowling like they just want to restrict runs and take time out the game on day 2.

If you are going to use a dead ball, then why not do it after pitches help spinners? Seamers aren't getting anything done, and spinners might as well not exist in April

Bit of a sudden collapse today though. Two wickets for 4 runs.

Good to see Jamie Sales get his maiden first class century. I think this is an important season for him.

Sussex into the lead, and now having a slog. May as well, the weather forecast for Day 4 is a disaster.... unless the game miraculously ends this evening, this is a draw.
