Congratulations to Surrey - no longer just Champions elect!
As of now it looks as if Kent will stay up.

Alastair Cook potentially playing his last innings- I was concerned when I saw the 0-1 score but the wicket is Browne.

Out for six though.

N'hants unexpectedly giving Essex a tough time.

Oh dear!
They did the same against Surrey last week - finding a bit of form just too late.
Think the official line on Cook is no decision has been taken- apparently did not acknowledge the crowd after his innings in their last home game although he strikes me as someone who wouldn't want to make a big deal of quitting.

Lots of talk about both Cook and Anderson packing it in after today

Jimmy the Saint not playing though. Could quit anytime.

Though wasn't Flintoff criticised for retiring before the end of the season, and accused of selfishly taking the spotlight away from the CC? Such as it is.

Chris Wright has pulled out of his move to Sussex. Decided to stay at Leicestershire after all.

Wonder if Ackerman will do likewise?

Anderson has been offered a 12 month central contract by ECB. Hardly likely to turn that down.
Have to be a proper saint to do that.

true... it isn't as if he has to play for Lancs if he feels a bit creaky in between the glory matches

Hants beat Surrey, but it's too little too late for everybody

Surrey have been poor in these last 2 rounds. Not invincible after all!

I guess its a shame, but I respect Wright's decision. Hes nearly 40, and apparently has a young family - its not worth uprooting your whole life to another area of the country for such a short time span opportunity, and I guess he was confident that if hes based in the Midlands, there are plenty of clubs around that area that might work better for him. And if not, probably just retire.

Ackermann is much younger (30-31?) so could play another 10 years if his form holds strong.

When he retires I can see him playing for Lancs for a couple of years. Wonder who the coach will be as Chappell is gone.

We now have a Stuart Broad End at Notts. They should have done that when Broad got 500 England wickets like Anderson. He took his 8/15 and hat-trick at that end.

Could there be a late relegation twist? Middlesex have Notts 5 down - just need 55 more runs but another couple of quick wickets could make it interesting
