well that's a blooming shame. Bedders drives beautifully for 4 through extra cover, looking every bit like a man in form and then next ball gets bowled all ends up. Match was set up for him to come out and flay the bowlers

224-3

Cam Steel has carved himself a nice little niche role for Surrey

he's just come in with them in a bit of trouble is currently 51 not out. He didn't do that too often for us

and now Jones takes on the bouncer and only manages to loop it up for the keeper to run around and take comfortably

232-4

3 wickets disapper quickly and Sussex will feel they're back in this

runs have dried up a bit too

Clark in

Clark brings up the 250 with 2 sixes

they are his only scoring shots, so he's clearly not interested in hanging around. He has licence to play any way he likes in these first couple of matches according to Campbell

Robinson c&b

he's been looking to hammer the spinner all this over and kind of threw it away in the end

291-5

Clark out lbw for 47. Looked out. a bit flat footed on the crease

325-6

it has been gloomy but the sun had come out in this over, so he can't blame the light

We've had fast scoring and some decent scores, but no-one has gone on to score big, big runs. We'll have to hope that Pujara doesn't make us pay tomorrow by scoring a double hundred

A couple of Carse snorters up his hooter to soften him up for Matty Potts might do the trick (fingers crossed)

odd innings by Clark. yes he hit 6 sixes, but he didn't rotate the strike or keep the scoreboard ticking between the sixes and he was dropped a couple of times, so on the whole it was all a bit unconvincing

I was about to say how much better Bushnells innings had been compared to Clark's, but now he's rather spoilt it by holing out on the short boundary

Not that clever given that the umpires will probably call time on this match sooner rather than later

still... the coach said we were going to play this way, so it is what it is
