I confess that I have no idea how to pronounce Van der Gugten, so I thought I'd get a hint from the stadium announcer. I waited until vdG came on and listened hard. The announcer said "change of bowling.............. silence....... long pause............ Van..... silence!

Not very helpful.

when Glamorgan took the new ball he must have checked and not understood because he said........ Van der....something garbled very quietly :slap

I'd love to know, so answers on a postcard please

I don't know if he has a franchise, but certainly a couple of years ago he got himself a late gig as a lucky loser T20 wild card pick. Was it the final he came in for?

I think so.

After that poor morning session that left us fearing the worst it couldn't have gone any better. I thought Robinson would prove to be an excellent signing but he is doing even better than I thought he would. If he carries on like this he might surpass Poynter's achievements!

Was it a poor morning session? I wasn't there, but we scored 119 runs. Yes we lost 4 wickets, but one of those was McAlindon sent out last night to block for 6 balls, and one was lost right on the stroke of lunch. Of course it could have been better, the afternoon saw about 170 runs scored for no wickets, but that was against an old ball and with only half an hour from their one quality bowler, so not as good as that, but not poor. I think I used the word indifferent

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the batting performance this afternoon. Once the first half hour was done when vdG was making life tricky for Robinson, I sat back and relaxed. They never looked like they were going to get out and they moved the score along at a right old lick. If only I could feel that relaxed when we are T20 batting

Timm Van der Hookden seems to be the way

I may have been a bit harsh but was feeling at the start that wickets in hand after the first session would be crucial...turns out I was wrong! It looks as if wicket taking is tough with the older ball - think we had them 3 down after their first batting session.
With the way things have gone the draw looks favourite but I think the third innings is often pivotal so if we can get a good lead we could be in business with Patel threatening.

no really.... I looked up the pronunciation and that is (apparently) the way to say it

we're back where we left off. 19 needed for max batting points. 6 overs to do it

max batting points secured. I suppose it's now about how big we can make the lead.

suddenly our scoring rate has dropped. Is Clarky thinking too much about a second ton? I doubt that Harris and Gorvin have suddenly started bowling like world beaters. Second ball is over 30 overs old, so runs are surely there to be had

Now Clark falls. Caught behind off Carlson

I reckon he suddenly started over-thinking things

That Carlson fella again

I have no idea what the plan is, but things have gone soft a bit. I keep thinking we should declare and deny them a bowling point, but of course we already have done by being 6 down after 110 overs..... I always forget that :slap

You'd think - barring a catastrophe- that the worst case scenario now is a maximum bonus points draw. Although if we make early inroads with the ball this afternoon they might just crumble.

BdL adds Salter to his 2 wickets in his first 2 balls.

I agree with you Capt, it's odd that we signed him as a white ball specialist who had only ever played one FC match, yet whilst he's a bit of liability in the T20, he seems to be exactly what we need in the red ball side

Get Carlson early tomorrow and we'll win. Don't get him early and we might still win, but it'll be a lot harder
