50 overs against Northerns today. We won the toss and elected to field. Northerns have just lost their 5th wicket on 116 in the 25th over.

No Lees, despite being announced as the new white ball captain for the season. He played but didn't bat in the last match, which I assumed was to give others a chance with the bat, but maybe he's picked up a bit of an injury over there :dunno

It would cetainly make no sense whatsoever to rest him when he could be practicing his captaincy skills, but then this is Durham and sense probably don't enter into it

3 wickets in the over for Trev giving him 4-1 off his 2 overs. Then Gibson strikes with the first ball of his new spell and the innings is pretty much done on 124-9

odd decision to field, really. I'm not sure how much batting practice we're going to get chasing this tiny total.

Which they did with ease. Little point in arranging pre-season games against such weak opposition.
Where’s Bas DeLeede?

and re-build they do

128-3 in 18.3 overs

could have had another 30 overs of batting practice

hasn't featured since the 2 day 3 day game. Maybe he isn't part of our white ball plans

final match of the tour sees a Durham win

we batted first and were bowled out in the 43rd over for 216, which feels disappointing

Lees 83
Bedders 32
Clark 29
Borthwick 0

in reply, Northerns were bowled out for 174 in the 35th over

Trev 8.4-1-29-5
Raine 4-1-11-2
Drissell 9-1-39-2
Potts 6-0-27-1
Coughlin 3-0-16-0
Borthwick 4-0-38-0

Quite a collapse in our innings - most unusual!
Did well to defend the total in the end. Not sure how useful these pre-season tours are but I suppose any match practice helps

Well they certainly wouldn't have got any outdoor practise if they'd stayed at home. This final game was against Zimbabwe not Northern so was fairly competitive opposition. Still no sign of DeLeede, nor any improvement in Borthwick 's batting. Seems to have regressed and 19 off one of his overs.

according to the fixture list on our website, we start the 3 day game against the uni on Monday 27th and a 2 day friendly with Yorks at Headingley on Tuesday 28th

It might be a friendly for the seconds, of course, but it doesn't say that

I don't know what the weather's going to be like, but I might wander down on Monday and see if there's anything to get excited about. There's a members meeting in the evening

Yeh,it's a 2nd XI. Not as if we've got enough signed on to field two teams concurrently
