I agree with you Capt, it's odd that we signed him as a white ball specialist who had only ever played one FC match, yet whilst he's a bit of liability in the T20, he seems to be exactly what we need in the red ball side

Get Carlson early tomorrow and we'll win. Don't get him early and we might still win, but it'll be a lot harder

I think so too. One of those situations where it might be done before lunch or they might get to lunch unscathed and then get done for by the new ball in the afternoon...or they could resist all day and get away with a draw. My hunch - and they're often wrong! - is something between the two extremes a win for us partway through the afternoon session.

Not going to happen by the look of things

That’s a shame. No new ball collapse from Glamorgan this time

It was the outcome I thought would be the least likely because I assumed that if they got away with a draw it'd be by the skin of their teeth but, despite the perfect start for us, they appear to have cruised to safety. And I wouldn't have thought Patel would make no impact.
Still, maximum bonus points draw so the 2nd best possible result! We should have Coughlin and Carse back.for the next CC game.

Borthwick saying that he thought the pitch today was better for batting than yesterday. According to him there was a bit of uneven bounce and spin last night but not today.

Ajaz looked like he would turn out to be the key man today, but they seem to have negotiated him well

A draw from the Sussex/Worcs game has suited us too.

32 points the gap at the top

It's a shame that Glamorgan didn't seem to be interested in trying to make anything happen today. I get the impression that they were perfectly content with a draw. With our new mindset, Glamorgan could have realistically upped their run rate and stuck us in for the final session chasing 200 from 25 overs to see if they could spark some sort of collapse. We'd have gone for it, surely, if words are anything to go by this season

Carse and Coughlin in the squad tomorrow but Campbell says if Carse plays he won't bowl and implied Coughlin wouldn't either. Both very useful batters - Coughlin certainly a better batter than bowler in T20. Seems unlikely they'll both play, personally I would not risk them aggravating injuries in the T20 intensity...but I've written us off in the competition! Campbell no doubt has not.

I've decided not to go tomorrow. Partly because I've been there twice this week already, partly because Mrs DF is now babysitting tomorrow, wants help so if don't go to the allotment tomorrow evening then I won't get there, and partly because I'm not sure I can cope with the disappointment

I've decided not to go either. Seems as if it's the game where Sunderland AFC season ticket holders got an offer of £1 tickets. A great idea to do that and there'll surely be a bumper crowd but that means big queues everywhere so I'll stay home!

Clark out with illness and Raine rested over workload issues.
Brilliant innings from the new number 3 Carse and 180 ish is probably a par total...but once again falling away in the last few overs. Have a feeling we might have needed 200 plus given our bowling issues but hopefully I'll be wrong

A tie. 4 from the last ball! That's probably the ideal game for the newbies in the crowd. I was sure we'd lose so in one way a point is good....but you really would expect to win with 5 needed from the last ball.

It looks like the penultimate over cost us

Not good, bowling 2 wides. The difference between a tie and a win

All things considered I think Parnell did well to only concede 9 in that last over. 3 wickets for him tonight as well

Brydon Carse..... take a boo son, take a boo

I wasn't sure how we could fit both him and Coggers in the side if they couldn't bowl, but Coggers did manage to bowl, so that's a bonus

de Loose still here, then. This must be the longest wait for a player to bugger off on international duty since records began. Like watching a kettle boil, or paint dry

He did OK with the bat - but as you were saying the other day - he's not a big hitter. I've said it so many times but he seems to be a very handy red ball all-rounder but a bit of a liability in T20 but all of his experience is in the white ball game.
