Yes, it takes some doing! Especially as Glamorgan are average at best in the bowling department.

this Leics side batted all day against us for the loss of how many wickets? Was it one or two?

I know a lot of people disagree, but declaring an innings with a guy on 410* is just mad for me. No one will remember this game save for that innings....let him go at 501 for Christ sake. Who cares about the result...

Sam Northeast taking over the baton from James Hildreth as the best player not to have an England cap in the county game

The victory enabled Glamorgan to leapfrog Middlesex into a promotion position which could be a very significant result. I'd imagine most Glamorgan supporters are ecstatic about the result.

Although it worked for them, it was surely a long shot that, in a 600 plays 800 match, Leics would collapse in a heap. The 501 wasn't realistic in the context of trying to win the game, but leaving Cooke on 191 seemed harsh. Maybe they told the players they only had so long to get there and he didn't. A great win though

As I said Westo, a lot will disagree with my opinion, and for reasons I respect.

But in the grand scheme of a sport that has witnessed a significant dying of interest at a county level, feats of individual brilliance are examples where the county 4 day game still has grounds to penetrate the mainstream interest. I very much doubt there has been any mentions of the 4 day game on BBC Worldwide's landing page for a long time, but this innings made it. The game as a whole would have benefited from the exposure of a potential world record, and while I appreciate a lot of those benefits are intangible, they do feel significant. No moment in CC will generate as much column inches.

I read a while back for instance that Lara's 501 had quite an effect on Warwickshire memberships. This was a player who scored over 2000 runs in a season and broke the test record just before his debut with the Bears... but that one innings had a dramatic effect on the publics desire to watch the team. Glamorgan might win promotion and benefit from the result, but I wonder how much theyd have benefited from a batter taking a world record.

And as I said.... in 2 years ask who finished second in the Division 2 championship, and even Glamorgan fans wont remember it....

Yorks are 8-3 against Hants. Brave call to face that attack at Scarbrough

I remember when Durham had an attack as potent as the one Hants can field these days

Northants nearly make a horlicks of chasing 6 runs with 5 wickets in hand

there will have been some Jonny Fartpants clouds coming out of the backs of the trousers of every incoming batsmen in the procession

Feels like the season has splintered into many pieces.
