Clinical in the end but we can't take 20 wickets unless Potts is in the attack. Good to see Maddinson play a big role , felt a bit sorry for him! Be nice to finish the home season with a win, Sussex really struggling and we could ( or should) have Lees back.

a win!

rarer than hens teeth, but very welcome

the minus 16 points has gone quiet.... doubtless it is being saved for next season

At the Riverside, bowler friendly conditions for once so I was hoping Sussex wouldn't recover and get to 150. They have.
Chris Benjamin an emergency loan signing from Warwickshire. Odd thing is that Marty Emmerson says Mackintosh hurt his hand last week and that was a reason for conceding so many byes. But he was named in the squad yesterday. Yet another example of poor communication between the coaching and admin staff.
Talk around the ground is Ollie Robinson has definitely signed- if that's true he probably would have come in for the last 2 games if both Billings and Cox hadn't been unavailable for Kent.
Dickson departure confirmed and Emmerson effectively said Franklin was a reason- he 'wondered' if things would have been different if JF had gone earlier.

162 all out. Could be a tricky session after tea.
Both scoreboards have gone blank!

Off for bad light, will probably be it for the day. 54/1. Good day for us.

nice that the late order stands were 20 odds for a change, and not 50's or 60's

I had considered going down for the final time this season, but the weather looked grim and the season is dead, so I didn't bother

match unlikely to go to Friday, so that's it for another year

a very unsatisfactory year

Yes, absolutely essential to strengthen this squad . Whoever gets the coaching gig will be on a hiding to nothing otherwise.
Everyone seems sure Robinson has signed, until it's officially announced I will make no assumptions but if he comes that's a good start - but we need at least two or three signings of similar calibre. Sussex will almost certainly be a bowler down for the second innings because Crocombe went off injured after one over with a nasty looking shoulder injury.

What was Gibbo's bowling looking like?

Not too bad .Thought he looked innocuous in his early appearances but has improved. Conditions were bowler friendly but thought he did pretty well. Watched the stream in the morning and there was what seemed like a dreadful umpiring decision- Raine bowling and the ball hit the batters back leg right in front of the stumps...umpire inexplicably gave it not out. Next ball, another lbw appeal and given out.

Not rapid but has a bit of nip.

Excellent partnership between Jones & Borthwick- seemed certain to get hundreds but fell short! Borthwick's wait goes on.
Breezy cameo from Bedingham but gave it away on 30. Maddinson has just reached 50, that's 3 good innings in a row after his horror start, I'm pleased for him.
Lead is 145 . 307/4.

344/4 at tea. Maddinson rattling along with a SR of 85 and Benjamin looks like a good batter. I think Emmerson said yesterday he made a century earlier in the season, must be in a similar situation to Ollie Robinson- Alex Davies being Warwickshire's first choice keeper.
