No wickets in the 20 overs before lunch. Wasn't expecting that - if these two can bat for at lesst another 10 overs it should make wicket taking extremely difficult with the older ball. Emphasis on the word should!

And a wicket as soon as play resumes!

the wonder signing is averaging 15 atm. 77 runs in 5 innings

The corporal is still there on 75. Been a bit of a breakthrough year for him really

According to Martin Emmerson appeared to have been using an illegal bat! Too.big. Seemingly if confirmed it could result in a points penalty equivalent to those for a win- 16 in this case. Don't know if the penalty can be awarded retrospectively- presumably not because how would they know what bat he had used in previous games.

A comically bizarre incident and sums up a farcical season although I think a points deduction would bw completely over the top. Can't imagine many players measure their bats so an honest mistake. Seems like officious umpiring- why not just have a quiet word, get him to change the bat and say no more about it.

Pretty sure another county has already been penalised this season but can't remember which county or the specifics. Maximum deductions for any team this season according to the table is 6pts(Sussex).

Interesting that we still manage to lose 7 wickets in that 'flat as a fart' period between overs 30 and 80

Oddly enough the other incident was another Derbyshire game. Sounds as if it might be an automatic deduction if the bat is too big. It would be so typical if the biggest points deduction of the season was for something so trivial.

Really poor, but not a surprise!

Marty has just posted an extra post match report that the bat in question was tested and passed by umpire Jack Shantry in the recent RL50 game v Sussex. However it has been sent to ECB for a final ruling. Nowt to worry about there, then.

we've had some awful overseas signings over the years, but I think by every measure and on every level, Maddinson has been the worst.

a points deduction doesn't matter a toss this year, so if there are to be any, what's the betting it gets applied at the start of next season?

farcical really..... and I'm not blaming the officials here

This has easily been our worst year, in every way, since the ECB tried to kill us off

It is yet another example of the managerial incompetence that has defined Durham CCC for the last few years. He can sack as many people as he likes, but North still needs to shoulder his fair share of the blame for a catastrophic season.

3 overs this morning for Rushworth before having to go off- another injury to add to the list.
