Before this came out today Killeen gave a slightly undiplomatic answer when Marty Emmerson asked him about the Clark dismissal yesterday. He said he wouldn't comment on specific decisions...but strongly implied he thought the overall umpiring standards are poor. I don't disagree. That Clark dismissal was surely a no ball.

I see we're back to 4 batters again for this one. Is Bushnell injured or something or is Coughlin playing solely as a batter after only bowling 3 overs on Friday? I guess we'll find out later
Mitch KIlleen gets a start

A used pitch according to Martin Emmerson but I doubt it will be a problem. I didn't see the innings so maybe they were all unlucky, but can't afford to have the top order getting in and then out in the 20s or 30s.
Drissell opening the bowling!

we fail, yet again, to bat 50 overs
Patterson-White gets his customary 5fer when playing us. It always amazes me how quickly we make spinners look unplayable.

Notts second XI get to their first fifty in the 8th over, so they're already 3 overs ahead of us
Gibbo takes a wicket with his first ball

well we aren't dead in the water just yet. An excellent spell of 2-25 off his 10 overs for Trev, just about keeps us in the tie
baby Killer didn't start to bowl until the 35th over, which is a bit odd. He was doing okay with 1-11 off 2.5 but he got clobbered out of the ground off his last ball to mess his figures up.
as is usually the case with us, it's the number 8 batter who is wreaking havoc atm. Drissell picks up Montgomery for 54 in his last over, so Notts need 29 currently with 3 wickets in hand..... overs isn't an issue for anyone... it's about wickets and runs

oh christ
with 28 needed and 10 overs to get them in, Borthwick decides he's going to bowl us glory
what could possibly go wrong?

2 runs
I didn't see that coming

Rushy has 2 overs left and only Gibbo and baby Killer have overs left in the game
At least Borthwick has brought Rushy back on and isn't saving him until it's too late. We need wickets

Borthwick has a wicket
caught, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the rope off a rank bad ball, but they all count. It's also the number 8 who was hitting sixes earlier
so now Notts need 21 and we need 2

1 run only off Rushy's final over
Notts have only managed to score 6 runs in the last 3 overs. 20 still needed or 2 wickets

oh dear... Borthwick reverting to type and getting thumped off his last ball
so now it's only 13 runs with only Gibbo, baby Killer or Maddinson with overs
Maddinson it is

4 runs, but it's wickets we need
it'll take something remarkable to win from here
if only we'd had an extra 5 overs to bat in..... oh wait!

and there we go... all over
another 20 or 30 runs from those 5 unused overs might have made the world of difference. The Notts tail only had to run two or three singles each over and wait patiently for the inevitable bad ball from Borthwick to put away, so they weren't under any pressure really as long as they kept their heads and didn't do anything stupid. With 10 overs to go they knew they would eventually fall over the line as long as they didn't get out, so risk free batting was all they needed. If they'd had to force the pace and take chances to score runs or risk running out of time, it might have been a very different story.
We've actually only managed to bat 50 overs once in 5 attempts this comp. Not hard to see why we aren't winning them
