A comically bizarre incident and sums up a farcical season although I think a points deduction would bw completely over the top. Can't imagine many players measure their bats so an honest mistake. Seems like officious umpiring- why not just have a quiet word, get him to change the bat and say no more about it.

Pretty sure another county has already been penalised this season but can't remember which county or the specifics. Maximum deductions for any team this season according to the table is 6pts(Sussex).
