another failure to bat 50 overs, but only 3 balls this time.

scoring rate less than 4 an over, but when the top 7 get out scoring 54 runs in nearly 20 overs, we probably ought to appreciate the last 4 adding 143 slow runs... which probably ended up being scored at a better rate than the top 7 could manage

I haven't seen a single minute of the one day cup campaign..... something I'm immensly grateful for

I worked out, the other day, that in the months of July and August (and just a tiny little bit of Sept), which I consider to be the height of summer here in old Blighty, Durham have had 4 weeks off. 7 cricket-less days between the end of the dribble and the first of July's CC matches, 10 between the 2 CC matches, and 11 between the end of the development cup and a travelling day to Derby for the first of 4 CC matches in Sept.

and we keep being told that there's too much domestic cricket

You'd think, with all the resources at the ECB's disposal, that they'd have come up with a better schedule than that, by now

His continued omission may just be because the finger injury still hasn't healed, seem to be rumours though that he might be leaving- don't think he is out of contract at the end of the season so whether there's any substance to the rumours remains to be seen - or whether the departure of Franklin changes anything.

Cherry on the cake if that's true. Hard to believe that if you are serial under achievers, apparently happy to let your squad dwindle to nothing without signing replacements, that then the quality players you do have are starting to look around at their options.

Don't believe for a moment that a fractured finger has kept Bedingham out this long - most batters play through the injury wearing a finger splint. I'm sure it's Franklin's incompetence that has caused the squad disenchantment, Hopefully with his departure Bediingham will resume his normal exemplary service.
As for Franklin's successor I believe Head coach is a misnomer,you need a man manager or motivator supervising the team,you only had to listen to Franklin to realise he couldn't fulfil that role. Gidman and Walker are experienced and respected and bring Geoff Cook back in a senior mentoring role.
Be interesting to we who's appointed captain.
