I think so. A very precarious position. Annoying thing is at the start of the day - and for most of it - a Middlesex win seemed the least likely outcome, one catastrophic session and now it's probably the most likely.

We started well this morning, but Capt Beaky has fallen before lunch for 60. That man Roly Tobeland again.......... who then follows that up with a second baller to the England captain

Now we are relying on Mr Ned and the bowlers again

no wickets lost for the bulk of the session and then we lose 3 wickets in 10 mins

Just got in. I expected a defeat but after a solid start this morning we should have done better. Unfortunate to be without the two leading batsmen but the bowlers are at fault imo - second successive game where what should have been a healthy 1st innings lead ended up as a defecit.
Was a bit surprised Carse had little impact given he seened to get in the groove last Sunday.

dropping the bloke who scored the highest innings of the match in his first over never helps. Capt Beaky juggled and dropped it. In the last match he did the same thing, but then jumped for joy when he realised that the ball had lodged in his trousers. Stokes is one of the best slippers in test cricket, yet I don't think he's spent much, if any, of his 3 matches fielding there

No Rushy bowling in the second innings. Either he's picked up a niggle, or they decided it wasn't worth using him and gave him a rest. A shame Salisbury didn't get his maiden fifty

Capt Beaky chopped on a TRJ loosener, fifteen minutes before lunch, that presumably could have been left in a game where a Durham win was the only unlikely match scenario and where the game was drifting to a draw. After that it was carnage for 10 mins..... Middlesex didn't drop their chances

probably fitting that Middlesex won the match spanking the second of two Capt Beaky long hops into the stands. Two of many, I suspect

And lest we forget.... This was similar to the total we were set by Essex at Cheltenham last year and which we subsequently ended up collapsing in a heap chasing. Essex had a decent spinner, of course. There's a moral there somewhere, but I'm beggared if I can find it No doubt the Gruesome Twosome will have worked it out, they are after all much smarter than me

I think he has a good reputation, have a feeling he even stood in as captain for a couple of games.

I was wondering why we'd taken him on loan. An injury to Mr Ned makes sense now. His glovework has been less than impeccable at times this season, but that would explain why. By extension... does that mean we have no back up keeper now that the Irish nugget has left us? Believe it or not.... I genuinely can't remember his name
