we need the ECB to give us a special dispensation to get a new ball every 40 overs, or we won't win a match this season

we could sign a decent spinner as our second overseas player, of course and then this might not happen every single week..... but we won't. Hoping for the ECB to let us have a new ball every 40 overs feels much more likely

and just to add insult to injury, we'll probably be deducted some of the handful of points we're going to earn for having a slow over rate..... although how a decent spinner would help with that is beyond me

Carse, Stokes and Borthwick have bowled 22 overs between them. they've taken no wickets, managed 1 maiden and gone for 127 runs

This has all the makings of a batting collapse in gloomy conditions when ( or if!) we get these last 2 out tonight!

50 odd runs for the 9th wicket from the bloke who hasn't played in a hundred years and a bloke with only one leg

New ball due in one over and I'm afraid we may take it... this really does have all the hallmarks of a disaster by 6.30

I've just realised that from 163-7, Glammy have the chance of picking up maximum batting points with plenty of overs to spare. They've got about 26 overs to score 50 runs

Shows how profligate we've been with the ball. In that time, between them, Carse Stokes and Borthwick could give away another 150 runs to go with the other 150 runs they conceded in that number of overs

When I got back in from the allotment, I was actually scared to look

for comparison.... Middlesex were 177-7 Sound familiar?

Notts bowled them out for 195

Notts are going to get promoted

just as it seemed things were going along nicely the house of cards falls down.... again

seems we just can't cope with a bit of part time spin from any sort of occasional bowler

179-3 become 190-6 and the lead is a derisory 136

this match will be over today

and it has to be said....... in what has to be near perfect batting conditions against a ball 65 overs old

still.... their tail added 200 runs, so ours will probably do the same if Stokesy gets out early

it seems a bit of occasional spin is good enough to whip out another 2 wickets

staring down the barrel.

I reckon that once Glammy start batting nobody will ever guess that this is a minefield of Taunton-esque proportions

Glad I didn't go to any of this one. I'm 61 years old...... I haven't got so much time that I can afford to waste it on this sort of shambolic performance
