More pertinently why is Borthwick captain when there were far more experienced options available and why has he not improved after nearly two whole season's in the job? I think I know the answer to both questions.

I agree with all that
he's not a good captain, though and probably never will be.... any more than Coughlin was/would have been
I'm not sure that captaincy should be something that is dangled on the end of a fishing line even in the hope that it will catch a big fish.... let alone a couple of tiddlers like those two
