indeed it does, but at least we've got nothing at stake. No relegation and no hope of promotion. Just a question of turning up until next season. Pleased to see McAlindon and Mackintosh retain their places and Bushnell come in at a sensible position.

I'm happy to see us fielding a DURHAM team -8 Academy products in the XI

Yes, wonder id Salisbury and Eckersley are going? Personally I think Eckersley- despite a poor season- is a good cricketer and would keep him but we have to bring youngsters in and the two debutants helped save the game against Derbyshire.

Funny season because I can't decide if the flat pitches and the issues with the ball have meant we've drawn games we would otherwise have won...or if we've drawn ones we'd otherwise have lost! There have been a few batting collapses despite the generally high scores.

Marty mentioned Ned going to study for some medical qualification. He was helping in his local hospital (London area, I think)during lock down and his father is a renowned orthopaedic surgeon so sounds logical.
Not following in Nigel's footsteps though.

Thanks. I didn't know he came from a medical background.

I think the re-laying of the pitch has affected us, because if I understand it correctly it will take a few seasons to bed in and become the pitch we want it to be. There are far too many runs on offer in the pitch atm and of the 2 results at CLS, a win and a defeat, both were down to plain old poor batting and bad game management.

the ball is what it is and is the same for everyone. Hopefully it won't be an issue next year, or we may end up turning to kookaburras which would be a retrograde step imo, so Dukes have to get it right and I'm sure they will

Mark Butcher on Sky commentary during a DURHAM game was most complimentary about Eckersley 's father, credits him for saving his career with pioneering surgery on his damaged wrist.

Some talk that Ollie Robinson could be signing for us. I read something a while ago that said he was likely to leave Kent and a number of counties were after him but the only one named was Sussex.
Would be pleased if we get him.

well we seem to have unearthed a young talented keeper from our own ranks, so it would be typical of the muddled thinking if we were to sign another from somewhere else

Presumably Ned is leaving, Macintosh has proved more than adequate but that leaves us without a deputy. Robinson wouldn't come on those terms.

That's what I was thinking- whererver he goes it will surely come with a guarantee of first team games.

Robinson has made a half decent start to the 50 over stuff for Kent

Durham are packed full of players who can do that before breakfast, of course

Amazing innings. Would be a major coup if we do get him.

I think he has a lot of potential. Odd thing about the t20 loan was that Ashton Turner said the number 3 spot was the pivotal one - and then said that Robinson didn't have much experience batting there. Probably on a hiding to nothing.

They had him batting all over the place in the early stages of the dribble. I think he batted at 3 in one game and then 9 or 10 in the next. But then we haven't got a clue about T20 anyway. Blind leading the blind. It's only been around for 20 seasons, so we can't be expected to have worked something out in that ridiculously short time frame
