Yes. It's another reason the failure to strengthen the squad was inexplicable. Had he not been injured at the end of last year it was a near certainty he'd have been picked by England over the winter, Lees was clearly going to be selected after the Ashes fiasco. But even if that wasn't the case the emergence of The 100 made it essential to strengthen.
I actually don't blame North and Franklin for failing to do that, I can't imagine they didn't realise it was vital so can only conclude they were unable to for some reason.

George Dobell reporting that Bostock is favourite for CEO at ECB.
That would leave North and Franklin in sole charge.
I'll get my coat.

Latest club tweet appears to be trailing the announcement of a signing. Presumably Robinson? Although with their track record it could just as well be an unknown.

Not an unknown- not a new signing either merely a 2 year contract extension for Potts.

In view of the strong speculation on departures,a review of what is left.
Salisbury,Dickson, Eckersley leaving.
Coughlin ,not dependable even if he stays.
Stokes,Wood,Lees,Potts,Carse with England commitments
Jones with Scotland commitments.
Senior full-time playing staff remaining
Bedlingham
Borthwick
Raine
Rushworth
Trevaskis.
A total of 5 senior players fully available.
Over to Messrs North and Franklin.

Yes, they need to get their thinking/recruitment caps on - what could possibly go wrong!

Jesus wept. One of the (very) few plus points of the season and we're losing him. What sort of message does this send out to the other players in the squad? We've already got a paper thin squad which is patently not good enough, and we're shedding players from it that we just can't afford. Why would anyone choose to come to us, and why would any ambitious player (Bedingham/Carse for example) choose to stay?

someone like Robinson would definitely play every week for us, whereas he might not for Kent, but that's a pretty poor unique selling point for us, imo

Given that we reported a operating profit of £1m last season I'm beginning to believe that it's not a lack of finance that's preventing signings but an unwillingness to join us. Opposition players communicate with each other,Durham players are underachieving, players are leaving, body language tells a lot.Only one action will cure all this.

Cricketer confirming our improving finances
"Durham's pre-tax profit for y.e. Sept.2021 jumped from £344,000 to £1.055m as they bounced back from Covid19. The club's turnover also rose significantly from £4.64m to £7.10m. Plans for a 130 bed hotel and a pavilion refurbishment are in the pipeline".
North at the latest forum stated that Durham were at 60% of the salary cap. It would confirm that our salary restrictions are self-imposed or players simply aren't attracted to Durham.

With Lees an example of a player who resurrected his career by coming to Durham, Dickson also to a lesser extent, Eckersley also initially. Finances also looking healthy. Why am I not confident about recruitment in the coming months?
