I think part of the problem is we've somehow never seemed to have a squad good enough to select a strong T20 side. When the red ball results were top notch we had quick bowlers who weren't suited to 20 overs cricket and neither were lots of the batsmen.
With this current squad we could probably do with at least 5 additional players purely for T20!
I'll be pleasantly surprised if he does opt for us but seems he enjoyed his time in the dressing room! If that's true we might have a good chance. If not they will have to bring someone in, Mackintosh has started really well but surely even this lot couldn't rely on a teenager to be the one option for every game....or could they!

Of course if Robinson does sign what ate the chances that he will join his orher two current wicketkeeper team mates in The 100!

Robinson has a respectable CC average and is 23 year old so would be a better prospect than Eckersley. Also give Mackintosh time to develop as regular RL50 choice. Then rooms up space for an overseas bowler.

@MartinBicknell
Apparently it's a near full house at Southampton. If that is so then a lot of them must have come dressed as seats.

:lmao
I did watch it and KP was talking at the start about it being a high scoring ground. First innings total was 107!

and that was only because they hit a four and a six in the last over. I watched a bit as well, and wasn't impressed with what I saw. A load of players scratching around trying to work out how to hit the ball off the square...... like watching durham in the dribble

Good, so we should fit in well as word is Riverside will be a venue for it next year either as a new franchise or replacing Headingley.

Carse out for the rest of the season! I thought he just had a bruised toe.

Presumably, since he's not mentioned, Eckersley is not injured.Clearly not going to be offered a new contract but surely good enough to deserve a place given that injury list.
Carse is becoming as much a sicknote a as Coughlin.
Where's Nigel when we need him?

I too was wondering about him. Better hope Mackintosh doesn't get injured!

I wonder if the decision to let him go early means they have someone- Robinson? - lined up to come in after The 100?
A shame to lose Eckersley, struggled this season but has been good overall.

I wish him well, he's done okay for us by and large. Seemed a decent bloke and a good role model

just because he's out for the season doesn't mean his injury is any worse than just bruising. England are desperate for fast bowler options for the Pakistan tour and none of the fast bowlers at their disposal are managing to stay fit and play at the same time, so this might be a dictat from on high to make sure that they have a couple of quicker options available over the winter.

Archer has signed a 12 month extension to his Sussex contract taking him up to the end of next season, so he must be pretty confident that he'll be injured until then

Good point. Maybe they are just wrapping him in cotton wool.
