Not much to reveal from this evening zoom forum
Poytner and Bancroft wont have renewed contracts.
No new signings but actively seeking 2nd overseas signing.
CC format for next season announced tomorrow.
Bancroft 2nd guessing that it'll be 2 divisions based on 2019 final placings.

It'll be interesting to see who that 2nd overseas player is - assuming we get one! Needs to be more than that though with such a small squad.
That idea of 2 divisions using 2019 placings is such a bad one that it's probably certain to be implemented.
Looks as if Alex Lees is in line for a recall to the England Lions squad.

and surprise, surprise we are in div 2 with Sorry in div 1

I imagine Notts were incandescent. They came very close to winning the CC this year

I'm actually quite happy to be in division 2,albeit for the wrong reasons, haven't got enough in reserve come injuries to compete in division 1.
Confident we'll change places with Sorry for 2023.
Can't see Notts accepting this. Swapping place with Yorkies as their sanction could offer a solution.

yorkshire?

sanctions?

as if.... more chance of Trump admitting that he may not have been the bestest president ever

Kent won't survive another year in div 1 and unlike Sorry don't have the wherewithal to buy their way out of danger without troubling the salary cap police

Is David Bedingham working towards domestic player status after signing for you guys for another 3 seasons, or is he still playing for Western Provence in the off season? Would be nice from an English perspective if he would commit to English cricket because I think he'd walk into the side, but I know when he first came over he was committed to SA still.... maybe thats changed?

No, he came over originally hoping to play as a domestic player using an ancestral passport but that route was blocked post brexit. At present he's classed as "an overseas player playing under an ancestral passport" according to Bostock but he didn't clarify exactly what that meant.. Bedingham is back in SA at present but hasn't turned out in T20 for WP but their 1st clas programme hasn't started yet.

Ah, ok. I thought he was just a British citizen who was forced to play under the overseas tag on the basis you cant register in two countries as a domestic player. If he is playing on an Ancestry status, its most likely his qualification for entry to live in Britain comes from two generations back and not directly (ie his grandparents were british, and his parents never took the opportunity to claim a British passport).

So he would first need to be come a British Citizen to qualify for the team, which would take a minimum of 5 years residency to complete....

So in short, there is zero chance he plays for England really at his age.

Poyntless has gone...... finally

Jonathan Bushnell, Harry Crawshaw, Luke Doneathy, Tom Mackintosh and Oliver Gibson have all been awarded 1 year deals, so I guess we now know the direction the management want to go next year.

Interesting that they've waited to find out the structure for next year before announcing anything. Five rookie contracts seems like a lot to me. Had we been in div 1 would we have seen a different approach?

Bostock announced the rookie contracts at the zoom meeting, also said he'd 2nd guess that divisions would be based on 2019 final placings. Both he and North were in favour of and voted for a continuation of the conference. Either they were unaware of members antagonism to that or ignored it.
No mention of any domestic signings.

my guess would be unaware..... mostly because they're happy not bothering to find out
