Here are the current tables from ECB website making next weeks game pretty crucial.

Very tight at the top.

Is it telling that the ECB tables have us above Northnts despite having 10 fewer points, but having a 13.something points per game average

I think we'll be top 4 comfortably

If we avoid defeat against Gloucs we'll be OK. If Sorry defeat Glaorgan the'd leapfrog us if we were to lose. Additionally if Northants lose to Essex we'd be OK.
Certainly exciting finale to the season.

Not quite going according to plan - presumably a used pitch with the spinner causing problems? Imagine it'll be a low scoring game but we could once again rue our lack of top quality spinners.
There has been a suggestion that if the 2 divisions are back next year the tables could be what they would have been last year - surely though it would have to be decided on this season otherwise it could be a case of a team -eg Notts - finishing near the top of division 1 this year but being 'relegated' to division 2 next year!

just when I thought our perennial batting woes were behind us

still..... never mind... this is where our quality spinner comes into his own

oh wait! :coat

our quality spinner went for 33 off his 5 overs in a low scoring game

at least Trevaskis is going better. 113-4

seemingly play was stopped for a while to allow an air ambulance to land on the pitch. If this had been at a Lanky outground or at Taunton, they'd have made the helicopter land on the wicket just in case it needed a bit more scuffing up

Essex Northants appears to be heading toward the 3 rd innings on day 1

the Lanky Aigburth minefield gamble doesn't appear to paying off. they might have bowled Hants for 143, but they're 9-2 in reply

This would be developing into an absorbing contest had our skipper not generously extended the tea interval to serve a series of pies to the hosts.

It goes without saying but those last 4 wickets need to go very quickly in the morning. Batting will presumably get even trickier as the game goes on so perhaps there's still a chance if we can set even a modest target.

I wonder why Rushy only bowled 7 overs?

he wasn't going for any runs... at all.... good pressure builder for the bowler at the other end

well we have a lead

shame we lost 7 wickets getting it..... who could have guessed that spinners on old pitches in Sept could prove to be such a handful? Not me that's for sure, otherwise I'd have been bashing on about it for years

so... we have 41 pts plus the points for this match which is looking like 3 = 44 pts. avergae points per game 11 which should, in theory (although we have to factor in FTECB) mean 11 points from the abandoned Sorry game. Total of 55 pts. Northants have 54. If they do indeed resume the 2 div format for next year, then we should, in theory (although we have to factor in FTECB) be in that top tier. We might find that Surrey get awarded a shed load of points for the abandoned game and we might find ourselves getting a 2 point deduction for a slow over rate in the abandoned Sorry game and then all bets are off

Glamorgan are just sticking 2 fingers up at Sorry. 170 overs in ..... 6 hundred and plenty for 6. They might bat on for the full 4 days

Gloucs took 16 wickets with spin in this game

just about over now... 17 runs required. an early end to the season

I see that Potts has bowled a total of 2 overs in this game. Either poor selection or he picked up an injury early on. Could be both, I suppose, they might have played him despite being an injury doubt

a couple of consolation wickets for Rushy, who bowled comparatively few overs in the first innings.

just the 10 needed now
