The first pre-season match has been announced. It's a 2 dayer against Yorks at Headingley on 22nd and 23rd March. Another match will be 'confirmed in due course'

I like starting the match thread, but this year I do wonder how much of a season we'll get.... or how much we'll get to watch

More than last year, hopefully

With a bit of luck! I think there's a reasonable chance the possible pre-May pilot events will go ahead provided nothing goes wrong in the next few weeks.

I'll 3rd that :D
Bostock was very upbeat about spectators being allowed.CC games must be easiest in any sport to manage and conform to social distancing- Deckchair casuals excepted.
T20 is the club's main concern given the revenue
implications. I notice they're really pushing T20 sales-again Bostock was really upbeat about T20 take up claiming families will be desperate for any opportunity to enjoy any outdoor sporting occasion.
I'm surprised that the April overseas hasn't been announced -Bostock implied that it was all but sorted.

24th - 26th March for the Warwickshire game. Haven't seen a mention of a Uni game so it's probably not happening.

How unusual- we've lost an early wicket in the 2 day Headingley game. The only surprise is that Lees is the man out!

It's Yorkshire 2nds we're playing -there 1sts are at Middlesex. Not concerned that it's Lees out- confident that he'll get a bagfull of runs over the season.

I think he will too. Didn't realise it was the seconds - that's probably why we've only lost one wicket!

almost certainly. Jones retired not out on 49....... harsh. he retired with the score exactly on 100 so it must have been pre-planned

Cricket!

how very exciting..... not long now..... although that new season excitement usually only lasts about half an hour after we've been put in and then reduced to 16-3 by 11.30

I see Dickson is in the squad. I'd forgotten about him!
Add Bancroft and the batting lineup looks pretty strong with Lees, Borthwick, Bedingham, Eckersley and a string of all rounders. The bowling could go either way imo- plenty of potential but also plenty of potential problems with injury and inconsistency!
Have to feel this is a big year for Burnham. Could well be make or break.

I agree about Burnham, especially given the faith the club put in him. 2 very modest seasons since then

I think Dickson may well feature at least until Bangers arrives, then a decision will have to be made. He's a very experienced player, so hopefully he'll turn his shaky first season around this year
