He played for us at end of 2018 season. Not aware of a more recent signing.

Maybe I misheard, but Graeme Swann was saying on comms that he is going to play for Durham next year.

Very much hope you heard correctly. There's a members' zoom forum tomorrow evening when we should receive clarification on next season.
Had clarification from another listener, Swann was referring to Patel at the Riverside in 2018.

Apologies. I understood something completely different then.

Ok,and,of course, India are touring England this season.

Even if Bancroft returns we still have a vacancy for a 2nd overseas who should, ideally, be someone of Patel's pedigree.

Preseason games v Yorks and Warks
Hotel and conference centre given go ahead(North End of ground)
Finances very robust-including £1.3 m from folly(hundred)

well done WL. Thanks for that

Borthwick, eh?

is he captaincy material? I'm guessing Bangers will lead the white ball stuff. I wonder what Eckersley thinks

they were confident that Durham was to be a pilot ground last year, i think

I guess Bangers hasn't been instructed by Australia to have a drink and a nap at the end of the Sheffield shield. Is he available for selection on 1st May or will he be watching through binoculars from a Lumley castle bedroom?

Looking at our fixtures there's a gap of 10 days in fixtures so Bangers won't be required until 13th May so plenty time to acclimitise.
The locum for April is in place, just waiting for paperwork. Wonder if it's Latham again with Kiwis touring here early season?

Thanks for this. Very interesting and it sounds as if things are going as well as they possibly could. I was wondering if we'd end up with no overseas player. Someone tweeted last year suggesting Borthwick and captaincy. It'll certainly be interesting!

I see Marty gave you a nod again WL

I didn't realise that Matty Potts had also been signed for the Silly, along with Brydon Carse and Woody

So Bedders is here on an ancestral visa, has played in England for a few years, but hasn't yet qualified to play for England which is why he was a kolpak last season and an OS player this season. Possibility that might change over the course of the season. Well that clears things up. I was wondering, tbh

Latham is a good shout, WL. It would make sense for us and for him.

Very interesting- and a most unlikely friendship! Patel & Mccarthy.
