There's a story in the paper saying Carse is a potential inclusion for the next test if Ollie Robinson isn't there.
Saqib Mahmood was also mentioned as a potential alternative.

I wouldn't have thought so, they already have Overton in the squad, and if it's pace they want, they have Stone too

:

There was a suggestion in The Sunday Times that England may take advantage of the covid-related larger squads to try out bowlers ahead of The Ashes and in particular they want quicks.
Although the article appeared to be writing Broad and Anderson off on the basis that they didn't get many wickets in the first innings. Something about 'thinking the unthinkable'!

I suppose a problem with Robinson is if they leave him out he may struggle to get back in when everyone is available although I guess that could have happened in any case. If he is banished for a while at least he has made a good impression on the field. Wonder what the chances are of Durham coming up against him again at some stage!

Yes,they've already named a squad of 15 for both tests plus opinion is that they'll play a frontline spinner at Edgbaston.
Leach for Robinson and Overton for one of the other seamers. Hameed in also for Sibley or Crawley. Surely Lees must be in with a shout later.

Williamson ruled out of the test so Latham is captain and Will Young is playing.

We did think he'd play, capt, didn't we

Asking Latham to captain, keep and open the batting would be a lot to ask.

Is Williamson precautionary ahead of the India game?

Hamstring problem. So,yeh, probably precautionary.

Yes, he was unlucky to miss out - although we didn't know about Devon Conway!

So 4 weeks from his injury until CC resumes with the final 2 games of the conference. That will come too soon for Lees presumably. Hopefully Jones will be able to substitute for him as opener and also Dickson will confirm a return to form. His form in the NEPL has been exceptional - leading run maker in the league, averaging 100 with a SR of 100.
Hope springs eternal.

Yes, Dickson should be a decent player- his FC average is not bad and Kent were keen to hold onto him so hopefully he is back on track.

I think it's his second or third game. Commentators said something about how he was expected to make his debut a couple of years ago but ended up having to wait a bit longer.
