This is potentially explosive. The paragraph on the disparity between the large ethnic mix in Yorkshire's big cities and total lack of it within the club indicates it's a genuine issue. Going to require considerable tact and diplomacy from club management to resolve this-a quality they're not renowned for. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id ... -yorkshire

From the BBC article (based on Dobell's) it looks like Yorkshire will look into the complaint through an independent investigation, which is something. And Azeem seems satisfied with the ECB which is encouraging. There have long been rumours of racism at Yorkshire CCC, but its alarming if the captain is being accused as he should be responsible for attitudes among the players.

An independent investigation, provided it is independent,is the correct response.

Cant really blame the people at the club. They seen Andrew Gale tell someone to 'f*ck off back home' and get the coaching job as punishment after, so maybe Yorkshire staff see it as a clever career move.

Didnt do Overton much harm either.

Institutional racism at Yorkshire CCC is a serious allegation to make, something which can tarnish the club. But I do believe Azeem Rafiq has been discriminated, particularly when experiencing a horrific ordeal outside of the game.

Rafiq loses a newborn child, form has suffered and gets released early from his contract despite a good 2017 season. Gary Ballance suffers from personal problems in the same month, takes a hiatus and returns to the fold.

Problem with the outcome of these investigations is a "lessons will be learned" tagline will be bandied about. As Westoe already refers, the club is not renowned for tact and diplomacy. It is rotten from top to bottom.
