So..... we appear to be in a straight fight with Somerset for the final 3rd placed QF berth. We have to beat Notts (and I wouldn't bet against that atm) and hope that our result trumps that of Somerset, because their RR is better than ours.

Like us, Somerset's task is to beat the runaway leaders of the group at their stronghold. Like us, they've already lost at home to the runaway leaders of the group

Nothing we can do except to beat Notts and see how the results pan out

but it is on

and if we can beat Notts and qualify, then for once we'll be the team on a roll heading into the QF's

Didn't Lee's turn it on against Lancs last year too?

Durham had lost the last 4 matches against Lancs prior to last night. I don't think we reached 140 on either occasion last year. They had Maxwell, of course, and he was excellent for them, but then we had Short and he did well for us.... just not in those games

Lees hit a run a ball 30 in the home game last year

promoting Clark up the order has reaped its rewards. his strike rate has gone up to 170odd at the top. last year he was coming in about 6 and fiddling about. this year he's opening and getting the long handle out quite successfully. It is a similar tale with Lees he was coming in at 4 and nurdling. He's still nurdling in truth, but he's batting deep and anchoring the innings.

A year ago, Raine averaged 6 point something. This year he's averaging 40. Been quite a turnaround at the top of the order since the opening 4 matches. I think Gandalf the Grey (Rimmington) deserves some credit for that

Yep. He has managed to turn things around and I don't think anyone expected it so well done to him. Hopefully Notts are on the downturn form wise although Hales must be due to fire.

maybe England have ruined him as a player

wouldn't be the first time

both Notts and Gloucester lost last night, which is never a good thing once qualification has been assured. Momentum is everything in this competition

I forget which comp it was last year but we had a QF against Sussex who came into contention after a late charge spanning 3 or 4 consecutive wins. We'd scored our points early doors and were a bit off late in the group phase. Sussex mullered us in the QF if memory serves.... they were the team on a roll

last year we missed out on the QF's for the 50 over to Lancs on fewer wins, because our final match was a wash out

just noticed, that in that final game against Yorks the match was reduced to 36 overs, yet somehow Yorks managed to eek 10 overs out of Bresnan, so the match must have been stopped more than once
