easy game, T20, seemingly. ;)

I reckon Durham will romp home in the rounds and then lose the QF to a side that barely managed to qualify

I suppose it depends on whether we re-sign Chanderpaul for the QF or not :hide

The eagerly anticipated clash with Yorkshire at the Riverside turned into a snorefest as in good batting conditions and with the sun beating down, Yorkshire bedded themselves in at the crease with no less than 5 players notching up half centuries and Adil Rashid going on to post 160, in Yorkshires imposing total of 520. All the Durham bowlers laboured but stuck to their task, with Onions the stand out performer, returning figures of 5-139. Michael DiVenuto anchored Durham's reply, scoring 214 as the hosts ground their way to 442, comfortably avoiding the follow on. Inevitably the final day petered out and both sides seemed happy to walk away with honours even

Yorkshire 520
Onions 5-139
Davies 3-96

Durham 442
Divenuto 214
Stokes 71

Yorkshire 117-4
Blackwell 2-39

Durham 47-4

Durham suffered their first reverse in the T20 cup with a 3 wicket defeat to Lancashire. Asked to bat, Durham lost the in form DiVenuto first ball, and missing his impetus Durham were only able to muster 151-7. Lancashire made steady progress and although Durham's spin twins restricted the scoring rate in the middle overs, Lancashire reached their target with 5 balls to spare.

Durham 151-7
Benkenstein 62

Lancashire 153-7
Blackwell 2-23
Thorp 2-37

Lancashire win by 3 wickets

Leicestershire were the visitors in the latest round of T20. Durham won the toss and opted to chase. Callum Thorp continued his good bowling form since his recall to the side, with figures of 2-31, but Leicestershire still made their way to 181-5. This time Durham lost Divenuto second ball and quickly slipped to 17-4 in 4 overs. Leicester put Durham out of their misery in the 12th over for a paltry 83 all out.

Leicestershire 181-5
Thorp 2-31

Durham 83
Benkenstein 34

Leicestershire win by 98 runs

Back into championship action and Durham went joint top of the table, albeit having played more matches than anyone else, with a thrashing of struggling Lancashire at Old Trafford. Durham were asked to bat under leaden skies and with a poor forecast for the day. Durham batted with grim determination in challenging conditions over 5 sessions for their 438, with all top five batsmen selling their wicket dearly. With 26 overs left on day 2, Durham released the hounds. The bowlers went on a rampage and demonstrated how well the batsmen had coped with the conditions. By close of play Lancashire 66-5. Resuming on day 3, Lancs subsided to 119 all out. With a full 5 sessions left in the match, Collingwood opted not to enforce the follow on and his team amassed 135-3 before the declaration came at the tea interval. The bowlers combined again to good effect as Lancs were bowled out for 245 to end a dismal match for the hosts.

Durham 438
Collingwood 132
DiVenuto 101

Lancashire 119
Onions 5-39
Blackwell 2-23

Durham 135-3
DiVenuto 44
Smith 41

Lancashire 245
Blackwell 5-48
Onions 2-60

Durham win by 208 runs

Durham put their recent T20 woes behind them with a second thumping win over Lancashire in 5 days at Old Trafford. Blackwell and Breese combined to restrict Lancs to what looked like a competitive total of 169-6. Looks are sometimes deceptive though and DiVenuto and Mustard thrashed their way to a club record stand of 173-0 in under 17 overs to seal a fine win

Lancashire 169-6
Blackwell 2-20
Breese 2-26

Durham 173-0
Mustard 99*
DiVenuto 74*

Durham win by 10 wickets

Friday night is T20 night, and I have 3 to report on tonight.

Durham continued their revival with a nervy win at home to Worcestershire. Choosing to bowl, Durham restricted their opponents to 139-7 with Scott Borthwick taking 2-24 in his first senior match of the season. Durham made hard work of the chase, losing early wickets and struggling to keep up with asking rate. It took a 60 run 4th wicket stand between Diva and Miller to get them close, before a clatter of late wickets threatened to derail the chase. Borthwick held his nerve to seal the win with 3 balls remaining

Worcestershire 139-7

Thorp 2-19
Borthwick 2-24

Durham 141-7
DiVenuto 60
Miller 39

Durham win by 3 wickets

Durham fielded an unchanged side for the top of the table clash with Yorkshire. Choosing to bowl once more, the excellent Thorp took the wickets of both openers to put the visitors on the back foot immediately. The 3 B's used their spin to keep the run rate firmly under control and Yorkshire could only muster 133-8. Mustard and Raine both fell early, but Diva and Benks rattled the score along and Durham hit the winning runs in the 14th over

Yorkshire 133-8
Thorp 3-28
Onions 2-26

Durham 134-2
Benkenstein 63
DiVenuto 59

Durham win by 8 wickets

Straight to Headingley for the return fixture. Durham were asked to bat and Mustard steered them to 158-4. The Durham bowlers immediately set about the Yorkshire batsmen taking wickets regularly without giving may runs away. At 93-8 it appeared that Yorkshire's goose was cooked, but that just brought Shahzad to the crease who proceeded to hit a 28 ball 56, including 11 fours to see Yorks to a highly improbable 2 wicket win with 2 balls left

Durham 158-4
Mustard 70
Miller 31

Yorkshire 162-8
Onions 2-25
Backwell 2-31

Yorkshire win by 2 wickets
