I think so. I did waver for a bit but, on reflection, it seems a poor choice to bat.

although Colly often used to bat first, I think the fact that virtually every visiting team for the last 2 years has just opted to bowl without looking at pitch or overheads say's much about the decision to bat first. That being said, although it's the first game of the season it's August not April...... but then again, we haven't included a spinner, so we clearly didn't think that day 4 turn would be a factor when making that decision

I suppose the plan now is to try and limit Yorkshire's lead to less than 50 and then just bat a lot better second time around

of course in this format, if you concede a first innings deficit then you have to go on and force a win... or have I misunderstood that?

Maybe the plan is to try and keep the members happy by making us all thankful that we didn't have to watch any of the matches

I started the day feeling aggrieved at not being able to go...but shortly after lunch I was thinking " Thank God I'm not there. "

We've had a fair few remarkable comebacks in the past so I'm not without hope but this time we're up against a division 1 side so it will take something pretty remarkable.
At least there will be some easy runs to be made next weekend when we'll be up against Onions :lmao Or plenty of tears!

just the one wicket in the morning session thus far and Yorks have a 50 run lead with 5 wickets in hand

shaping up for an innings defeat, I reckon

Durham have been slow starters for a few years now, which is no good in a truncated season. This campaign will be over before we've even got warmed up

Potts lifts the stubborn Brook, so we need the rest to fall in a clatter. Yorkshire lead is 51

Raine lifts Thompson. Time to finish it off before lunch?

Hopefully. Can't really afford many more runs given our fragilities. Still, at least we're still in the contest.
