Warm and overcast and he chooses to bat. I'm not laughing. Bet Rushy and Raine aren't either.

It does seem a very strange decision. This season- with the lack of pre-season training/practice- must see batsmen less prepared than ever before. Not to mention that we have debutants in the lineup and we have seen how even the best international players take time to adjust to the conditions.

I just assumed we lost the toss. Perhaps he got advice from Jason Holder

I've just seen the score..... I think I preferred it when it was raining. We really are hopeless

I suppose if my some miracle we get up towards 150 there's always the chance Yorkshire might have similar difficulties. Clutching at straws well before the close of day 1 of the first game.
Still, won't be long until the T20 starts - wonder if they'll have the good sense to re-appoint Poynter as leader? Or Coughlin? :facepalm

I know we expected to have Bancroft and Behardien, but there are still too many players in that middle order with very modest track records. Apart from Eckersley ( and Lees at the top) I don't think any of them inspire a great deal of confidence. Bedingham has a good reputation but a one year deal in a truncated season might make it tough for him.

Dickson, presumably signed at least in part to replace Bancroft, has a decent record but no more than that.

Makes me wonder if the decision to bat wasn't such a howler.

74/4 -although that includes the wicket of the nightwatchman- might just be a glimmer of hope.

Difference has been Kohler Cadmore.Had the advantage of seeing how much the wicket was doing so saw threw his bat at everything. Normally batting gets easier as the game goes on. Given also the sultry conditions surely inserting should have been the decision.
