I agree. There's some suggestion over a fallout between the club and S Steel. Don't know if that was the case but I also suspect there's more to it than just an amicable parting of the ways.

I think Steel is one of many of the young generation who see their future in T20 and I don't suppose you can blame them. With finances tight it's surprising any club would offer a 3 year contract -be interesting to see who it is.
Bit harsh on Bell and Coughlin Jnr- presumably they were on furlough so they've hardly cost the club any money this season.

Yes, seems especially harsh on Bell who never had an opportunity to prove himself and as you say neither would have been expensive.

ah well..... chances are we'll re-sign them again in a couple of years time.... especially if they can find a way to be injured for most of those couple of years

Be interesting to know who made these decisions -maybe we'll get clarification during the zoom forum. Bell is of an age when he can continue his academic education and still develop his cricket at club or university level, probably the best career path for him.
Coughlin jnr is similar to his brother in that he doesn't appear to have progressed with age, can't expect Durham to support 2 Coughlin charities.

Yes, will also send a question, polite of course, seeking clarification on the club's youth policy going forward given the cluster of foreign signings recently. Care to send a similar query?

I'm not up on this zoom stuff, sadly
I'd always ask about our perennial (and historic) lack of spin options at the club and why we never seem to see rectifying it as a priority
I'd ask about Bangers and I'd ask about our second OS options, although I fear suspect we might already have our second OS player and I fear suspect he might turn out to be our 1st OS, and neither of those options fills me with any confidence for next year

There's clearly something amiss when a local lad prefers Leicestershire.

Yes, seems an odd decision. There must have been a fall out between the player and club.

I thought the same - he was either overcome with emotion or not well.
